Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

bobbins, no ambition against what is basically a kick and rush team, fulham tore em apsrt last week

Was a dive for the penalty. Ridiculous decision.

Gundogan and Walker both horrendous. Thought Gundogan in particular cost us 3 points.

Thought we played shit then. 0 control in the midfield and hardly a chance until the 90th minute.

Think this PL will be a bridge too far with no Rodri or Kev.

A lot won’t be but I’m happy with a point toon will only get better at home as the season goes on some of our competitors might struggle there

Difficult game, especially with our injuries, so a draw is not a bad result. We didn't create enough, no where near our best, but defensively I thought we were looked ok.

Premier League Match Centre have tweeted:

"The referee awarded a penalty for a foul by Ederson on Gordon and issued a yellow card to Ederson, deeming that his actions were a genuine attempt to play the ball but denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity.

"The VAR checked and confirmed the referee’s call of penalty and a yellow card to Ederson."

That statement is wrong on so many levels; how can these fuckers be so incompetent?
Bent hiding behind incompetence. Always has been.

We fell apart a little after their goal and let the match get out of our control. We always struggle against teams that come at us with real pace.

In the absence of Rodri and KDB our midfield balance is way off. Kev will hopefully be back soon, and Pep will find an answer to the Rodri situation, but it might take some experimentation to get there.

A draw's not a bad result.

Played well in parts.

Should have scored a couple at least.

Losing Kev and Rodders is going to hurt any team.

Very soft pen.

Overall, pretty much expected and could be a snap shot if how our season will pan out if the injuries don’t stop.

Bernie needs to play central and savio starting.

Newcastle can get fucked. Hope they still arnt allowed to spend.

That Gordon is a cheat fucker.
Yep - agree with all that. Shows that not only do we have to get Kev back sharpish we need to stop teams seeing the Arse blueprint of constantly trying to stop us getting into a rhythm by using the famed dark arts - a narrative that I hate. We must dictate the pace of games better - something we always seem to do post Xmas.

Overall a good point but do I dislike Joelinton and Toinali they got away with about 3 yellows each.

I think the last 20 muns shows where we need to go without rodri. Bernardo Silva owned Joe Linton everything.....he needs to play central if you ain't playing Stones in there...Bernard is wasted outside.

Gundo was poor
Rico I think found out the difference between starting in midfield and being a fullback moving into midfield ...he didn't play bad but he struggled at times

Savihnio was a revelation when he came on.....his defensive recovery run shows he should be starting wide and his quality going forward is obvious.

Gvardiol was good
Grealush- good assist and maintained possession but he needs to be more involved...and he needs to stop letting himself become the pantomime villain.....it does the team no good

Stonewall penalty for them

As Pep said we are in a war for the season
...rodri loss is huge..the biggest loss is how Pep sets his team up...he is more cautious and we lose creativity as it means dropping a creative player playing what is essentially a double pivot...again why we need savihno on and more from whoever you play on hhe left

Decent point, especially when they get a pen for a clear dive.

Foden finally looked on it from the bench, think he'll be starting now.

Grealish with another good performance first half, second half they tried to get him sent off and he was clearly distracted by it.

Gundo, what the fuck was that mate?
