Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

The lack of a goal threat with Kev, Bobb and Rodri out is clear. Foden is well off it as is Gundo so everything falls on Haaland to score. He cannot do it on his own.

Other wide and midfield players should be looking to score 6-10 goals per season but hard to see this happening the way they are playing and with chances not being taken when they do arise.
Fuck is up with Foden? I’m not buying that illness shit. He looks nowhere near it this season so far.

I'm not happy at all because I don't honestly understand why we have the best Forward in the World then play with wingers that will never give him the supply he needs . Sorry but I'm tired of watching him trying to feed off scraps!
Ermmm not sure if you’ve noticed but he’s a scored virtually a goal a game in his last 100 appearances !!

If Foden and Silvinho had been on ten minutes earlier, we would have won this. Gundogan was uncharacteristically poor, when Pope was off his line Haaland was unmarked and Gundo scuffed his attempted lob. He also messed up a few opportunities as well. What worries me more is that we seem vulnerable to fast counter-attacks, we need Ake back fit and well, Akanji and Gvardiol did well again, but I thought Stones could have been brought in to steady the ship at the back. The commentary never mentioned KdB’s absence, on its own this wasn’t a bad result in the circumstances, just irritating after another draw last week, but I am sure we will improve.

We haven't had a match where everyone has been on their game for some time. We have relied on individuals to come up with the goods and often it is left to once person to provide the wee bit of magic, but in matches like today, we seem to lack the spark that would ignite the blue touch paper.

We never have a match where everyone is on their game until 3 months into the season normally.

Think the chances we created in first half and didn’t finish cost us. Should have been 3 up in my opinion although we didn’t start that well. Still, will take a point, never easy!
Trouble is that was Newcastle’s cup final. They, like many other teams won’t play against other teams like they do against us.

The guy is breaking all records for goalscoring which suggests he is getting good service.

Haaland is a great finisher but is not the strongest in air, so throwing in cross after cross balls is not the solution.

Furthermore Haaland is just one cog in the team the controlled build up has many advantages for the rest of the side and has proven very successful over the past few years.
