Just taking out the fourth place teams would be a start. I read somewhere that Germany and Italy now have FIVE places? They just seem hell bent on increasing the number of games (hence revenue) and sod anything else.

Remember when Vladimir Weiss was our hope of a youthful saviour from the utter dross? I reckon a lot of his Tears were over what might have been for him were it not for the takeover etc

The G14 really did ruin continental football when they took money away from every nation East of Germany/Italy and awarded more and more places to Eng, Spa, Ita, Ger… it skewed the quality and it’ll never even out again.

They really didn’t.

The changes have been going on for the last thirty years for a number of reasons and none can be attributed directly to UEFA

The problem is that that the USSR was split into 15 different countries, Yugoslavia was split into 7 states, and, Czechoslovak was split into 2. This split once viable Leagues into smaller units often dominated by one club.

The money flowed to the bigger Leagues with the likes of Portugal, Scotland, Netherlands, etc. increasingly marginalised by the more powerful Leagues.

That is bugger-all to do with UEFA or the Champions League.

What the Champions League has done is widen the gap between the top clubs in the big leagues and the rest.

no i don’t but people are complaining here incessantly about having to play against slovan who are the champions, the slovakian league is not elite but they still have to play and win it and then qualify for the ucl.

Nope I give every league the credit, knockout competition for me and the champions of every league recognised as participants.

You'll find most legacy fans don't think that way about other teams, they have a little more respect.

It’s not so much corners not scored from it’s the danger of counter attack from them too. Don’t think I’m alone in this view and it’s neither disloyal to pep and the team or anyone else to talk about it.

Got no interest in a who is the bigger blue contest with you mate :-) but let’s just say I’m over 50 years in.

If you can’t tolerate people having different views from you though then, regardless of your self nominated bigger blue status, maybe internet discussion boards aren’t for you?

Just got the small matter of playing away at the top teams in France and Portugal and away at the second team in Italy. Fucking tough set of fixtures

I'm not quite sure I follow your post.

Was Bratislava vs City a fixture that should happen or not? Given both are champions of European nations? The mismatch was horrendous but they're there by merit. By dead river, did you mean that our match the other night was? When you say elite, how many teams should it be restricted to? Sorry I'm just trying to understand
