President Trump

Or just tell him to shut the fuck up and read a book old man. Never let people get away with shit because they’re old. They have probably always been cunts.

That's very true but being an complete twat probably shouldn't bar you from office whereas I think having lost your mental faculties probably should (though there's a been a few US presidents that might have applied to). In his case he's a nasty piece of work who's also showing major cognitive decline, oh and a criminal to boot, so it's hard to see how anyone who hadn't been radicalised would vote for him.

Dumbfuck old people say this about every generation and have since the beginning of time, and think they’re being wise or profound. I’d love to be a teenager again as opposed to an old guy.
It’s just people getting old, running out of energy and seeing the world move on from what they knew making them angry and bitter.

I get your point, we’ve been run by total twats for, well, pure ages. Sadly it seems all the wankers and twats end up in parliament. You nailed it. His radicalised morons, with more guns than brain cells, apart, nobody can be considering voting for the incompetent, incomprehensible, fat sleazy ****.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

I agree ‘old man shouts at clouds’… but I’d say the younger generations post-industrial revolution, have generally only had to deal with or think about 1 or 2 crises in their own times - war and poverty.
These days it’s war (local, international, terrorist, nuclear threat), poverty (wealth inequality distribution constantly increasing, unaffordable pensions and state spending ), climate (change, uncertainty, consumption overtaking resources, pollution ), demographics (western older populations unsustainable, immigration/emigration concerns), lack of factual science (belief in a religion, rise of the lie, social media)…

… as my ‘kids’ themselves have said, ‘yeah it’s not great for us is it, the future’. :-(

Every single one of those issues has been around with modifications my whole life, and my parents' lives. I'm American so my context is narrow, but . . .

Nuclear threat? We used to do "duck and cover" drills in school in the 70s.

Climate/pollution? Try the air in LA in the 1970s.

Poverty? The poverty rate in the US is near an all-time low.

Demographics? Has opportunity expanded or contracted for non-whites in the US over time? For women? For LGTBQ people?

Lack of factual science? Do we know more or less about the world and the universe than we did? Church attendance in the US is near an all-time low.

The data doesn't support the hand-wringing, writ large. Everyone has their own experiences and circumstances, and there's always plenty to be worried about, and I am frightened by Trump and MAGA, but every generation of old people have thought things were worse than 50 years ago since the 1800s. They've nearly always been wrong.

In a lot of cases, it's not about how much they love Trump; it's about how much they dislike/distrust the Democrat's, and that's about how strong historically Republican messaging has been on the 'perils' of voting Democrat, especially amongst older voters who lived through the cold war when communism was actually seen as the enemy of democracy.

Except that those who had political power during those times — including GOPers — have almost all disowned him. As Reagan, Ford and Bush Sr. would were they alive IMO.
