President Trump

I still think the right are using Trump as a useful idiot. There’s no way he keeps his marbles for another 4 years. I feel, once he has done his job (election win), he will be quietly moved aside so that they can impose their agenda. The only reason he is there is that there is no way that Vance (the real problem for America) could win it. He has been proved to be a useful idiot for Russia, China, North Korea, Hungary, Venezuela etc, so it’s not a long shot to see this scenario…let’s hope (for the world, as well as the US), he gets soundly beaten in a few weeks time, and the Dems win both houses as well as the Presidency to fix some of these fractures in their people…
My God! Talk about projection. This is exactly what happened on the Democrats side of the fence.

The Democrats used Biden to secure the Democrats primary by restricting potential challengers and failing to even allow open primaries in some State.

Then once he secured the nomination, they threatened him most likely with the 25th Amendment, so he stepped down and they annoited Harris without a single vote So if anyone has been a useful idiot here, it's been Biden.

And he is not liking it.

I think that’s bollocks. Once Biden decided to run again, the party (whatever were their misgivings) had to rally behind him. It was only the debate that did for him. Once people seriously started to worry about his health (both physically and mentally), it was only a matter of time. I’m not sure whether Harris is the best pick, but the Dems didn’t want the bloodbath of a divided party, so went with her. The GOP would have had a field day if their had been contestation for their candidate and time was short, so they have chosen the best they could within the timescales given…

The debate simply confirmed an opinion that everyone had for the better part of 3 years

Everyone was well aware of his physical and mental struggles. At least anyone who wasn't sticking their head in the sand.

They all knew about his need to be micromanaged, his falling down, his robotic gait, his inability to read a teleprompter properly, his need for rest for most of the day amongst other things.

The debate just made public what all the stakeholders had always known for years.

Work have set me up a twatter account for the job on the work phone

Considering I don't follow anyone or anything the feed is full of Elon/Pro Shitgibbon propaganda.

Sadly millions will believe the BS on there as it's easy and lazy way to digest information be it true or false.

Step away, mate, they’ll drag you in ;-)

I would you are always totally honest but fair enough.

The guy arrested is — allegedly — a member of a hardcore right-wing group and apparently carried weaponry for his “protection” (and I guess fake passports and drivers licenses).

Perhaps the sheriff in question (non-partisan, but his political website certainly leans in one direction) might have amped the narrative for his own aggrandizement (speculation).
Youre right. Its not a fanatic who has guns who wants to use them to kill Trump. Its a fanatic with guns who feels empowered by him to have them going to show his support by taking them with him. Its hard for Brits to understand this. We (rightly) conflate guns with bad news and criminal intent over here, and many will assume this when reading that news story

What about Trump's inability to not soil himself?

Mate it’s hard for plenty of Americans to understand it too.

It's like cosplay for these people. They get dressed up in the same way a 12 yo girl would get dressed for a Taylor Swift concert. Just with guns and accreditation instead of a sequined skirt.

DONALD TRUMP’S FASCIST ROMP
After the former president described American citizens as “the enemy within,” Glenn Youngkin reveals his own complicity.

Tapper read Trump’s remarks verbatim, and then asked: “Is that something that you support?” Youngkin replied that Tapper misunderstood Trump, who he said was referring to undocumented immigrants. No, Tapper responded, Trump clearly meant American citizens. Tapper added that Trump had singled out Schiff. Youngkin aw-shucksed his way through stories about Venezuelan criminals and Virginians dying from fentanyl. “Obviously there is a border crisis,” Tapper said. “Obviously there are too many criminals who should not be in this country, and they should be jailed and deported completely, but that’s not what I’m talking about.” And then, to his credit, Tapper wouldn’t let go: What about Trump’s threat to use the military against Americans?

Well, Youngkin shrugged, he “can’t speak” for Trump, but he was certain that Tapper was “misrepresenting [Trump’s] thoughts.”

Some of the people who watched Youngkin’s appalling dishonesty immediately thought of one of the most famous passages from George Orwell’s 1984: “The Party told him to reject the evidence of his eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

Turns out there were a few medical emergencies in the crowed that paused events and it ended up being a bit of an impromtu concert while waiting etc.
Had it been a 'normal' event with a 'normal' presenter they would have 100% announced that there would be a delay in proceedings until the issue was resolved.

I suspect what happened here is that Trump had his meds tailored to coincide with the rally and probably needed a top-up.

Trump's ne crypto business venture;

His business partners are Zak Folkman and Chase Herro, both of whom have a colorful business history.

"Herro, who previously called himself a "dirtbag of the internet" at a crypto conference in 2018, has said he has made millions from an ecommerce business after spending three years in jail for selling drugs when he was in high school. Folkman, who first joined forces with Herro in the ecommerce business more than a decade ago, has reportedly previously taught classes on "how to date hotter girls."

The BEST people, huh?

Here’s how Donald Trump would lower grocery prices

In his own words.

“Like my fellow Americans,” the woman said, “my grocery bill has not gone down. Everything is still so very expensive. What steps will your administration take to help American families suffering from this inflation?”

Trump’s answer

“So, you know, it’s such a great question in the sense that people don’t think of grocery. You know, it sounds like not such an important word when you talk about homes and everything else, right? But more people tell me about grocery bills, where the price of bacon, the price of lettuce, the price of tomatoes, they tell me. [1] And we’re going to do a lot of things.

“You know, our farmers aren’t being treated properly. And we had a deal with China, and it was a great deal — I never mentioned it because once covid came in, I said, that was a bridge too far because I had a great relationship with President Xi [Jinping]. And he’s a fierce man and he’s a man that likes China and I understand that. But we had a deal and he was perfect on that deal, $50 billion he was going to buy. [2] We were doing numbers like you wouldn’t believe, for the farmer. But the farmers are very badly hurt. The farmers in this country, we’re going to get them straightened out. We’re going to get your prices down.

“But you asked another question about safety and also about Black population jobs and Hispanic population in particular those two. [3] So when millions of people pour into our country, they’re having a devastating effect on Black families and Hispanic families more than any others. [4] I think it’s going to spread to a lot of other places.

“I think it’s going to spread to unions. I think unions are going to have a big problem because, you know, employers are just not going to pay the price. They’re going to — and it’s going to be — it’s a very bad thing that’s happening.

“So they’re coming in. Many are coming in from jails and prisons and mental institutions, insane asylums. [5] That’s like, you know, step above, right? Insane asylum. And whenever I go, Hannibal Lecter, you know what I’m talking about. They always go — the fake news. That’s a lot of fake news back there, too.”

[Boos from the audience.]

“They always mention — you know, it’s a way of demeaning, they say, ‘Hannibal Lecter, why would he mention?’ [6] Well, you know why, because he was a sick puppy, and we have sick puppies coming into our country. I figured that’s a lot — that’s better than wasting a lot of words. You just say, ‘Hannibal Lecter. We don’t want him.’ But. But they always sort of say, ‘Why would he say that?’ I do it for a lot of reasons.

“But I do it because we are allowing some very bad people into our country. And they’re coming as terrorists. You know, you saw the other day, last month they had the record number of terrorists. [7] I had a month — and I love Border Patrol.

“Did you see they gave me a full endorsement two days ago? Border Patrol.” [8]

[Cheers from the audience.]

“The Border Patrol. And they’re great. And, you know, they want to do their job. They don’t want to let these people come in. They look at them. They can tell. They can look at somebody, say good, bad. They say what’s coming into our country now, it’s having a huge negative impact on Black families and on Hispanic families and ultimately on everybody.

“And we’re going to close that border so tight. It’s going to be closed. And I said the two things I’m going to do, first, we’re going to close that border — [9] and people are going to come in. You want people to come in. We need people to come in. People are going to come into our country legally.

“You know, it’s so unfair. You have people that are waiting on a system, in a line and they’ve been waiting in this line. You know how long? For years, 10 years, 12 years and they study and they take tests. And then people come. I actually say, ‘Why don’t you just go and just come on across?’ I tell people that it’s terrible, right? I said, ‘Go out. You’re incredible.’ They say, ‘What can I do to speed up the process?’ I say, ‘You know what, go to the southern border. I’ll see you on the other side.’ It’s so unfair. [10]

“But we’re going to have them come in legally. You have to see what they have to do. They take tests on, you know, who was the first one here? What date was this? What does 1776 mean? All this stuff.

“And these other people are coming in and they’re affecting the school systems and they’re affecting the hospital system. I mean, if you take a look at what’s going on in Springfield, Ohio, a town of 50,000 people, they’ve just added 32,000 people. Illegal immigrants. [11] And we’re not going to put up with it.

“And we’re going to take care of your costs are going to come down, and you’re not going to have a problem with — because the biggest problem, and I’m hearing it from Black people and to a lesser extent right now, but it’ll be the same, Hispanic people.

“And I’ll tell you what, our poll numbers have gone through the roof. With Black and Hispanic, have gone through the roof. [12] And I like that. I like that. I like that. So we’re going to take care of it. You will be — I’ll tell you, if everything works out, if everybody gets out and votes on January 5th. [13] Or before.

“You know, it used to be, you’d have a date. Today, you can vote two months before, probably three months after. They don’t know what the hell they’re doing. But we’re going to straighten it all out. We’re going to straighten that out. We’re going to straighten our election process out, too. That’s going to be important, also. So thank you very much, darling. We’re going to get it straight. Thank you.”

And that is how Trump will address inflation.

God help us all if this mad old **** is elected next month.

God help us all if this mad old **** is elected next month.
I've listened to a few of his speeches and like the one above they are quite formulaic.

A)Identify a common / shared problem or perceived problem.

B) promise to halve/double whatever it is as applicable to solve the problem within an incredibly short space of time

C) move quickly back to (A) before the cheers die down without addressing the 'how' of (B) except in the vaguest of terms and repeat with a different problem.

American campaigning generally involves rallies rather than tough journalistic examination where everyone in the room (besides the odd assassin) is already a true believer, so the above process comes under little or no scrutiny. I'm starting to believe trump may win because he understands this game better than the opposition.
