He was linked with them in the summer as well. He's young and Sporting are playing as well as they have in the last couple decades -- I don't think this would have been done as a preventive measure for City signing him, rather they just view him as the best available option. €10m is a pretty cheap fee, most other potential managers during the season would cost more to buy out.

He almost jumped ship to West Ham previously.. he's ready for the big money of the Premier League.

I’m glad he’s going to Old Trafford and not here, managing Portugal is different to managing in the Premier League. keeping Pep’s good work going would be too big for him. Instead he’s going to get swallowed up by the rags desperate to rebuild. We’ve recruited the best coach around last time in Pep, why can’t Khaldoon and Soriano do it again and recruit Alonso?

Maybe Scruffy Jim had decided to give Ten Hag one last chance it’s open knowledge that they were talking to managers and maybe they spoke to Amorim and put him top of the list and he was interested

Real managers don’t generally have long stays whereas he looks at City and sees Pep into 9 seasons The decision will not come down to where he played it will be what he thinks is best for his career and only he can make that
