Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I think with the Viana connection Amorim would have been on a wider list at least as his Sporting results are impressive.
I do think main target Xabi Alonso is very much Real bound. him taking over from Ancelotti upcoming summer would not surprise me one bit. he aint doing another Leverkusen season after this.

so if its not these two, who would be? still think its about 80% Pep renews (albeit 12-month extension will not delay the big change for too long).

Inzaghi decent but speaks no English, not too sure his style fits us exactly. has the experience of winning multiple titles in a big league.
Nagelsmann still with Germany albeit could change after the 2026 WC same as Tuchel.
Xavi, I dont know, fits the style given he is a Pep student, the way he couldnt handle pressure last season, even going as far of writing down his teams chances and then Flick with a bit of tweak runs so hot with a much quicker, more exciting style...
Luis Enrique decent but dont rate his managerial work after the Barca years. (Spain, PSG) CL winner tho, thats a big thing on the CV.
Zidane?:) no idea whats he up to. won 3x CL's in a row and unemployed since...

while the current regime went for someone like Pellegrini who had the style but not so much of the big results, imo we wont do that after the Pep-era. imo at least domestic success or CL win will be a criteria on top of serious tactical skills, style of play, potential etc.
Xabi Alonso with winning the league unbeaten and improving players greatly, to make them be more than sum of the parts of the squad, stopping Bayern winning it like 12 times in a row with a much lesser squad than Bayerns, well that is impressive.

May not be miles off with that surprisingly.
A few months ago I was hearing we really rated him.
Christ I hope I am. I remember the kneejerk reaction posse dogmatically insisting that he was the perfect man to replace Pep when Spurs won 2 or 3 games on the bounce at the start of last season.

Nice bloke and a decent manager but not of the calibre we’re looking for

It's going to be either Pep renews or Alonso in, if Alonso goes Real, Ancelotti in to steady the ship and maybe win another CL or two, if none of those its Big Sam

This guy after a pep extention please. Ta.

Alonso still have more personal connection with Madrid than ours because past playing experience.

Don't act convince him to join our club will be the most easiest thing in the world.
No it's not especially it's his former club we are talking about.
He had connections with Liverpool and allegedly turned them down so who knows.

Am I the only one who really doesn’t rate Ancelotti that highly?
His CV is incredible.

Carlo Ancelotti's management record includes:
  • Champions League
Ancelotti is the most successful manager in UEFA Champions League history, winning the trophy five times, including two as a player. He's also the only manager to participate in six Champions League finals.

  • Trophies
Ancelotti has won 20 trophies in his career, including:
    • Two World's Best Club Coach awards

    • Three FIFA Club World Cup wins

    • One English Champion title

    • One German Champion title

    • Two Spanish Champion titles

    • One Italian Champion title

    • One French Champion title

    • Five Uefa Supercup wins

He said he decided he was ready to leave Liverpool when the club tried to sell him in 2008 (and replace him with Barry). He left in 2009, three years before the end of his contract. That doesn't scream 'desperate to go back' to me.

European trophy record holder, and manager of the year Ancelotti? Probably, aye.

Not that I would want him here to be clear, but he is an excellent manager.
Agree.

He’s in the top echelon but barely seems to get any praise in the media over here whereas Klopp, whose record isn’t a patch on Carlo’s, gets talked about in the same bracket as Pep

Yes, but he's won fewer league titles in his career than Pep has at City alone.

Can’t just bring someone in surely we must be preparing for the transition of Peps methods philosophy etc etc now in our DNA so we can speculate but let’s hope his successor is already being prepared
Even Pep had to sacrifice his first season to groom the whole club in his ways which meant clearing out those as good as they may have appeared didn’t have the hart for it
If we don’t continue his blueprint we could end up like the rags with each new manager wanting his “type” of player
My thinking is the answer is still sat inside or has been around Barcelona all their careers
