What really frustrates me apart from the loss, which let’s be honest, we’re not used to, is, City could be 8 points in-front of Arsenal now had we beaten Bournemouth, and pretty much dealt a massive blow to Arsenal’s title hopes.

Yep; definitely an opportunity missed.

Don’t think it’s Arsenal to worry about, it’s the dippers. They ain’t losing games and look in better shape than we do at the moment. That trip to Anfield got a whole lot important at the beginning of December.

They're not all that. They're scraping it. Brighton were the better team for much of the match yesterday.
Of course, they could scrape it right through to the end of the season. But they're not that unstoppable juggernaut of 2018-2022 or so (which, by the way, we nevertheless stopped, except for one season). One bad injury to either Salah or Van Dijk would fuck them. May not happen, and I don't wish it on them, but still.
Nobody's great. The season's still very open.

Recency bias. Arsenal are the better team and it will show over the course of the season. Would be surprised if Liverpool didn't have a bad period at some point.

But imagine that Liverpool won it. It would be a bit funny, given all the talk about how Klopp the miracle worker over performed. That said, I think we have several great young players (Gvardiol, Lewis, Savinho, Doku, Nunes, hopefully Bobb, and Foden and Haaland can get better, too) capable of surprising the league. If Savinho and Doku improve further, not to mention Phil and Erling, they can destroy any opposition.

By the same token Arsenal will have seen our result yesterday and thought that losing at Newcastle was a missed opportunity for them to close the gap on us. The season's full of these kinds of weekends for every top team - getting pulled into the Sky Sports narrative that it's a "race" can mess up your perception. It's just about getting to 90 points, independently of others, and hoping you've got more than the nearest team.

Don't we have this lad Echeverri to come in in January? Not that he's going to be a miracle worker, he's still incredibly young — but isn't he supposed to be pretty useful?
he barely has played there this season, and if mcatee gets 1 game in a month u think echeverri will have any?

He’s had an indifferent few months for River Plate. Taken off at half time in two games recently. A number of games he’s started on the bench, three games in the last month he hasn’t made it on the pitch. With 1 goal and 1 assist since the Olympics in August.

He’ll more likely be playing in the EDS than the first team.

Hopefully a kick up the arse a few needed that yesterday and as soon as pep finds a solution to our defensive issues ( more the open midfield) we are still the team to beat. Stat wise we were better in all departments apart from s.o.t yesterday pep will find the balance soon. Me personally thinks it's gonna take getting someone alongside kovacic with legs O'Reilly or nunes would be my picks.

Having watched him a fair bit I agree he's not had a great few months. Though he looked back at it last night.

In my opinion he's too good for the EDS but not good enough for our starting lineup. Will be interesting to see how he's used and whether he makes the squad often.

One thing is for sure... His potential is sky high and he's ahead of where Perrone was when he joined. Though he needs polishing like Savinho did at Girona.

Same as every year. We need to be in touch in January and we’ll be in the running till the end. Bobb to come back, de bruyne to come back. Jan window to bolster.

We look knackered at the minute and it maybe a case of the last 4 seasons have caught up. But we’re there abouts and just need to grind it out till new year

The big question for me is even if we bring in a Rodri replacement in January can Pep get him up to speed quickly enough to make an impact this season?
