Did tixi shaft us this summer ?

Let’s hope we are sorting new players now
I think the club have made a noticeable change in their recruitment strategy over last few years. Net spend seems to be a key driving force in decision making and the club seem reluctant to spend big money like they once did. This summer will be interesting to say the least

Yeah I'd agree with this. Seems more important to make money than spend any. Which is admirable... but we have never really spent at the top have we.

Maybe takes a season behind to go and flex some cash. Personally think spend some in jan, we employ enough people to have knowledge of some lesser known players to sign in Jan

Squad is fine, I’m not massively concerned.

Keepers I’m happy with.

Defenders I’d like a left back and a right back but don’t think we’re desperate if all players are fit, I prefer Ake and Akanji/Walker there at the minute with Gvardiol, Dias or Stones in the centre.

Probably not the best time to move Gvardiol, though I do see him as a centre back eventually.

We should be fine with Walker/Akanji/Ake/Gvardiol until Stones and Dias are back.

Rico needs taking out of the picture for a while.

We NEED a covering defensive midfielder and striker, but nothing new there since Alvarez left and we saw that Phillips couldn’t cut it.

We are massively over stacked with midfielders now, and there is no balance.

We don’t seem to be able to get a tune from 5 out of Kovacic, Grealish, KdB, Silva, Foden, Nunes, Gündogan, Doku, Savinho at the minute.

I’d prefer Doku or Savinho on the right paired with Grealish or Nunes on the left.

Foden furthest forward in the centre with Kovacic or KdB behind paired with Silva or Gundogan.

Without a defensive midfielder though I just think we’re too open to counters and to make matters worse we have so many players from the above out of form or coming back from injury/injured, we’re also struggling for height and general defensive acumen with all those in the centre of the park, they are all attacking players.

It’s Silva/Gundogan in the middle which is the problem (not blaming the players, I love them both). Not sure what the answer is and with Rodri there we are fine. If a defensive midfielder doesn’t get addressed in January I think we win nothing, even if we do, it took Rodri a year.

Think it’s going to be a case of an injury to our best and most important player (who despite trying we couldn’t find a backup for) wrecking our season.

But we do need to get cover for Rodri and Halland before next season starts, preferably in Jan but it’s hard to get deals done and the last thing we want to do it panic buy.

Is there anyone from the youth teams?

We didn't tonight
We did. He missed a penalty. And hit a decent half volley and smashed a volley a million miles away - but if you think for one second he doesn't score the 3 chances that their lad had (who scored 2 of them) you are a silly person :)

he will have to deliver big in his first window. the squad is neglected bit, letting it get too old in some positions, one striker in total, no Rodri sub, these were all choices we made. add in the panic buy Nunes, the brutal Phillips transfer. Savinho and Doku might become City greats but right now very raw wingers with not much end product. mid range players like Bowen shit out their G+A.

I am not unhappy its not left for Txiki to sign KDB replacement. we need new energy in recruitment and clearly Txiki is done and ready to relax but City cannot relax.

Am not suggesting their number nine for ours. But he would be a good signing moving forward especially with our big fella on route to Spain.

Don't really think the squad needs a huge upgrade. Just a few tweaks.

Goalkeepers: Ederson's good to stay, Ortega will go so probably need to replace him.

Defenders: Walker will stay but step down and Lewis will move into midfield so a new RB is due. Or we move Akanji to RB full-time and buy a new CB. Happy with everyone else.

Midfielders: Not sure a "Rodri back-up" exists in the form we want, we just need someone like Kovacic but with more defensive discipline. Speaking of, Kovacic is fine to stay. De Bruyne will take a step back, Foden will remain first option. Gundogan will go. Bernardo will stay but take a step back. New DM/CM and creative CAM needed imo.

Wingers: Bobb, Savinho, Doku, and Grealish is enough to be going on with. Nunes too if he fancies staying out on the left. Sneaky suspicion Grealish might leave for a fresh start after all these injuries, the burglary, new child, etc. So perhaps we'll be in the market there.

Forwards: Haaland is incredible, he's good to stay. Need another number 9 to back him up a bit.

So, a back-up GK if Ortega leaves, a RB (or CB), a DM/CM hybrid type, a creative CAM, and a striker. Five players. Shouldn't be too hard to line up the targets Pep wants and give it a go.

There is no guarantee big sums will be spent this summer especially when we are waiting to hear the results of the Premier League charges and whether Pep will remain at City for a further season. Interesting times...

Come on mate, this is an old team, we are going to lose Bernardo, Walker, KDB, Gundo and probably Ortega this summer. Rodri is not to be anywhere near his level for at least 18 months if ever.

That alone is a huge hole, this squad this time next year will be very different.

In the next two windows we need to be going in hard and stop pussying about.

There’s absolutely no way Haaland leaves City without at least beating Alan Shearer’s PL goalscoring record (he could beat Jimmy Greaves’ all-time record if he really wanted).

Not sure that's going to happen, his career will be a selfish one for me, he will go to all the major leagues , that's just the way it is with him.

I think you've hugely underestimated what's required
We're in a pretty similar situation to when Pep arrived with the ageing squad he inherited and players who are not good enough
