Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

It shouldn't have been let come to this though. Txiki for all the praise he has got has been hit and miss for a while now. What if any part Pep played in this who knows.
its consistent with what has gone on since Txiki arrived to be honest.
These have been his major acquisitions:
13/14
Fernandinho
Jovetic
Negredo
Navas
Demechelis
14/15
Mangala
Bony
Fernando
Sagna
15/16
De Bruyne
Stirling

Otamendi
Delph
Iheanacho
16/17
Stones
Sane
Jesus
Gundo
Bravo
Nolito
Zinchenko
17/18
Laporte
Mendy
Walker
Silva
Ederson

Danilo
Luiz
18/19
Mahrez
19/20
Rodri
Cancelo
20/21
Dias
Ake

Torres
21/22
Alvarez
Grealish
22/23
Haaland
Akanji

Gomez
Phillips
23/24
Guardiol
Nunes
Doku
Kovecic
24/25
Savinho

It shows how long it takes to build a squad of the quality we have. It goes back to 15/16 and the next couple of windows were crucial in building Peps initial squad and then a couple of signings every window since. Midfield and defence are ageing though and its not a tweak we need its a renewal like when Pep started. Lots of successes in there, some good tactical signings and quite a few that have failed. Shows how difficult it is. Since 2019 we have picked up 5 or 6 players who still form the spine of the squad. I'm not counting Savinho, Doku or Nunes in that as to me they are still very much unproven as to the standard we require to win multiple trophies each season. We are reliant on Phil and Kevin to create and when they are not firing/injured we really struggle. I think its time for another transfer window like 10/11 and 11/12. Multiple first team players that can hit the ground running.

It seems to me that we have been rebuilding in phases (defence coming out of COVID, attack over the last two seasons, and midfield was to start...now?) and that the injury crisis has made this acute. Just a lot of spinning plates.

There’s some names in there I literally forgot existed.

Was Danilo real?

Pep always an annouces his decision in the late nov break so can you chill the fuck out
Why do you think that is.....and would it be better make a decision at the end of last season so as to create certainty and eliminate speculation.

Thoughts ??

I’d hardly call staying for one year a rebuild.

Very tough job for Viana this, it’s time for the club to start taking the power out of Guardiola’s hands regarding players/recruitment. It’s hard though when you are new to a club and your manager is someone with the reputation of Pep Guardiola.

We can’t wait til summer 2026 to refresh.

It's not an ideal situation especially with a serious rebuild about to start.

Either way I think we will know what the future holds in the next couple of weeks.

I could see him really wanting the Brazilian job , turning that once great footballing nation around would be some feat.

I don’t understand this post. 115 result will come after Pep has made his decision. OK, that’s likely….so why then go on to say that his decision will be affected by the outcome….after he had already made his decision?

Make it make sense.
I personally think it’s all guesswork at this point.

Sam Lee seemed convinced Pep would take the England job
