Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I'm done with this team

Absolutely disgraceful stuff. Can't even do the basics right. Developed a weak mentality and can't hang onto a lead. Only a few players are doing their job but we've become bottle jobs!!!

Pep is a spent force. In reality, most managers get a good 10-15 year run if they're a top manager and that's their lot. Pep is probably there now.

Without Haalands goals we would be bottom half. And nobody can say we would play differently and players would make up the goals if he didn't play because they wouldn't, they're all performing shite. Haaland should be looking for his move away.

Every dog has its day and we have. We'll be pretty much on the same downward spiral the rags have been for 10 years.

But that's football. You can dominate forever. English football history tells us that.

I've had a great 3 years supporting city, since 2021 because I wanted to support Grealish but I've lost hope.

Well done Brighton. Great spirit. Definitely a team I might align myself with.
You’re “done with this team”?

I wish you were done with your entitlement and lily livered lack of support for your team through thick and thin.

Txiki’s squad planning needs to be called into question here. IMO anyway.

Pep has worked miracles in the past few years by papering over some cracks but this is one too many.

How can it be that one player being out - Rodri - essentially folds the whole team? He’s irreplaceable, we know that. The best in the world. But Txiki must have been thinking on how to plan for life without him.

Especially after last season when he was suspended and we didn’t win a game!

Not even that angry after that, just a bit despondent after the last few weeks. That was the most predictable defeat since, well, Tuesday night. At least there's easy money to be had from the bookies by betting against City recently. Actually thought we did really well in the first half, in the circumstances, but the players were on their arses for the second half. Hope this international break gives us time to regroup and get bodies back, although it feels like things could completely unravel too. Going to be interesting to see how we respond.

Bit worrying now , it's not just the defeats it's how we are losing, 10 goals conceded in four games.
That 3 at the back looked pretty good in the first half

Not sure what the Brighton coach did to change the way they attacked us in the second half but it fell to pieces and Pep didn't appear to do anything to change it

Agree. Something going on at city. Pep, players & club seem to be off at the minute.

All I can think is 115

We won plenty with the 115 charges. That's not it.

Injuries and key players either way off form or on the slide. We've not really bought well in recent years. That's not to say we haven't bought good players, like Gvardiol, he's great. But overall I don't think we've bought well enough to transition from older players to new ones for the next phase.

The team is tired due to many injuries and playing every 3 days. Like vs Sporting, we had an excellent 1st half with 5 shots on target and 0 for Brighton. Second half we lacked energy and couldn't stop them.

Pep's mistake was to play a strong team at Spurs which cost us injuries and energy. Should have played Pusey there, not in the important games.

Also, many failed to realize how much we were going to miss Rodri. The notion that it would be (almost) business as usual without him was silly.
The decision not to have strengthened in the last couple of windows, possibly due to the Pep situation, is now coming home to roost, although the injuries have not helped. We have been poor most of the season, including in the games that we won ! I think we need to know what is happening re the manager pretty soon.

Zero shots on target in the second half and very little attacking drive much of the game.
I hate international breaks but I'm thankful for this one.
Poor recruitment especially given an aging squad! Should have been planning for this over the last 2 years

We are in a bad way. Manager not sure he wants to stay. Too many players who are below the level we’ve been at Lewis, Nunes, Kovacic, savio, Doku. Time was we had an injury someone came in our level didn’t drop. Those lads play and we look average. No pace no power. No leadership on field. Legends like KDB look done. Our future hopes Foden and Haaland look miles off it and unhappy on the field.
I cant remember a time when we have had so many first teamers out? What is it 6?

I know we'll get the 'here we go' lot slagging off peoples opinions calling it a knee jerk reaction to a defeat, BUT the truth is this is a result of lack of investment in the squad.
We've needed a backup for Rodri for two summers BUT we didn't get one.
Gundo left and we didn't replace him.
Walker was threatening to leave BUT (didn't) but we had NO real back up if he got injured. BTW Lewis isn't the answer.
Alvarez left and we've no second forward. Lose Haaland and we're really screwed.
KDB missed 4 months and we didn't get a back up. Truth is he was always gonna struggle to stay fit.
Stones and Ake are permacrocs and yes we do have 5 CBs, but we have been reliant on the others staying fit.

Injuries have caught up on us and we don't have the quality to replace them.

The next set of fixtures in November and December for this bunch doesn’t get any easier and unless the mentality and effort changes in the next couple of weeks it’s going to be a struggle
Tottenham
Dutch champs
Liverpool
Forest
Palace
Rags
Villa

Doesn’t get easier. Good chance we’ll be out of the title race by the end of this run of games. Can see us beating Palace. That’s about it!

Wank. We can’t put games to bed or see them out. Midfield is far too slow. At this rate we’re going to be significantly behind before we get any of the injured players back.
