I'd almost expect any club to act agressively to steal a march on their rivals but trying to oustsmart your opposition can backfire sometimes.
I actually think that what they have done is bound to fail. The fact that they have actually went out of their way to force/black-mail their new managerial appointment is a great sign of a club that is deeply troubled, driven by short-term + immediate concerns, and devoid of stability/vision. Which is what everyone anyways knows very well about United.

But if bringing Amorin has indeed been part of the Man City plan then they might succeed at very significantly disrupting their closest rival. Stealing their closest rival's ideas, along with disrupting their closest rival, might be their focus especially given the great, great Man City recent success. That could potentially be a concern. But, again, that is just a possibility and a conjecture based on the thus-far easily available information. I don't know if that is actually the case. And I don't really know almost anything about Man City - United relations to know how big of a possibility/likelihood something like that is or could be.

Every time they get a new manager, you realise what a bunch of shithouses all of their players are. They suddenly play to their potential for about six months, revealing that they've basically deliberately been putting fuck all effort in for the previous manager for the majority of his time there. And that'll last until their manager gives them a little bit of criticism and they down tools again. Absolutely toxic squad for a toxic club.

What they think their rivals are going to do could turn out to be wrong. PR37 is a great example and Sanchez is another. I do think they'll recruit better (not difficult!!) with Amorim in the mix.
Except that we've just hired the person who did all of his recruitment for him.

Their closest rival is Bournemouth at the moment.

Players won’t like how Ruud has been treated by the new regime, interesting games coming up.

Looks like Ratcliffe actually put an ultimatum to this guy. Almost like he was blackmailed. Like they wanted to make sure to pry him away as soon as possible. Perhaps because of their form. But perhaps also as a way of trying to break and disturb some other plans or arrangements they have learned are in the making regarding this guy.

And, of course, City have also recently announced that their new and incoming director of football will be Portuguese. Just like this guy happens to be.

Ye I think so. They’re obsessed with us and trying to get one over on us it’s pathetic!

A couple I work with that had stopped watching football and have no interest in it anymore have suddenly started getting very giddy
It's strange isn't it?

People I assumed had either lost my number or died (honest assumptions by me) suddenly have not only popped up but seem as giddy as they were in 1992.

Seems to me that the problem with obsessing about another club, and making key decisions based on what they are doing, is that you take your eyes of your own club. We've all laughed at their managerial and player signings based on what we (and Ajax) appear to be doing. Every club culture is different from infrastructure to players to fanbase. Unless their executives learn to shed misconceptions about their own club, they'll only ever get it right by accident.

The rags have done it for years: transfers such as Wynn Davies and Tony Coton, but it has reached a crescendo in response to Pep and I’m sure this has played a part in their demise.
