It’s going to be very interesting. Trump’s initial statements since election have said people will have a right to social media that has no influence from algorithms. If Trump and musk deliver that it will be a sea change… and it’s not what musk has given us so far. But it also wasn’t what any other platform offered either. Jack Dorsey was as guilty as anyone and Zuckerberg is now admitting he’s messed it up on Facebook.

And regarding “wokeness” it also touches on someone’s ability to have a reasoned discussion on these issues, for either side of them without having to be shadow banned.

Discussion and hate speech are not the same thing so don’t take that as me advocating for free rein to harass. I recently witnessed a woke mob harass someone to suicide based on nothing more than “a feeling he was a bad dude” and it’s not a topic for here but it was left leaning folk going after him. Ruined his career in a day whilst sat on their sofas and it resulted in suicide.

So this is a city thing, I’m asking everyone to stay right where they stand. Disagree with people, fight your corner there. As long as you do it politely then discourse wins.

Running to an echo chamber hurts everyone.

“Woke” is a funny thing.

There are articles or videos calling it out throughout history such as when black people were given equal rights, when women were given the vote, or even allowed to drink in bars.

Just like how many of us now laugh at the views from years ago, people will be laughing at the old blokes crying ‘woke’ today decades from now.

You might think you sound clever but in reality you just sound like those in the video below.

Oh, and as for Trump. He’s a fascist and I certainly wouldn't hang on to his words about algorithm free social media.

What people misunderstand about fascism is it's a lot more common than people think.

Fascism doesn't always look like Hitler.

Recent fascism examples are Modi in India, Netanyahu in Israel, Prayuth in Thailand, Musharraf in Pakistan, Saddam Hussein in Iraq, MBS in Saudi Arabia, khomeni in Iran etc

You don't always need massive 6 million dead in gas chambers.. just small sized pogroms/ riots in the streets accomplish the same thing, but one thing all fascists need is public justification for their actions which are actual "overreactions" to perceived threats from an internal enemy.

Democracy requires people to accept individual loss and the greater love of country. Fascism requires people to accept greater love of DEAR LEADER and destroying, pillaging and burning your own country to exile everyone you don't like so you can rule over the ashes.

BTW they don't always start big with gas chambers off the bat.. A basic tenet of fascism is make an example big enough to scare your enemies. The ones who have common sense will flee. That way there's a lot less of them to deal with when you have to round them up and less people objecting.
