Think it will be a fair bit longer than that before we hear the outcome. However, I do think that if Pep is open to extending then he could be waiting for the result of the case before putting pen to paper

Of course, we all speculate. So does the media, and then us in term some more based on their speculation.
But announcements are different and worth the distinction and not claiming as such unless real. Imo.
How did the Pep pan out from Bayern to us? Was it he finished at Bayern then was announced to be coming to us or was it when he said he wasn't renewing at the end of the season it came out he was coming to us!

Mutual decision early in his last season that he'd leave at the end of his contract from memory.
He wasn't overly popular with Bayern fans and he was seen as an oddball.
He announced it to the world that he was leaving in a presser too.
Loved by Bayern fans. But some Bayern management didn’t like his ego and wanted to tell him what to do.

Not the match going Bayern fans I knew through a German company I worked for. They were ambivalent about him and not bothered that he was leaving after three seasons. Doesn't matter of course as he has been amazing for us.
It was announced well before any meaningful speculation surfaced. By our own then manager, on the last day of the January transfer window.
At a time, when ahead of that we were supposedly strongly linked with Klopp from dortmund, btw. And loosely with Mourinho.
Only after Pellegrini announced it.

I'm pretty sure he announced he was leaving Bayern in December 2015, and the Pellegrini leaving/Pep joining announcement came on 1st February 2016.

Of course I'm pleased Pep is staying but I'm also slightly disappointed that it's only looking like a one year extension. Two years would be so much better....
Unless it is on a rolling contract. Even if it is actually a year, that it does give us a bit longer to find a successor with Viana.

Pep can sign a rolling monthly offer for me..I really am delighted he is staying.
He will rebuild the team, one more season with Rodri back.
Raises more questions than answers for me.
We need a rebuild, I just don’t want Pep to roll with his trusted guys for another season
