Exactly that mate. There seems to be a bit of a post Nov 5 flounce going on. Everyone of that ilk will then end up on bluesky in an imaginary world they like better and where they all agree with each other. Twitter will become even less balanced too.
Instead of two frothing mobs howling at each other it'll be two separate echo chambers - a much more powerful tool for radicalisation and extremism.

Bluesky is at 17 million+ and rapidly growing....loving the ability to block shit and never have to listen to that negativity from Elon, magats, farrage brexiters. The use of blocklists is great, filter out all sorts of shit from your feed and your not given the shit that makes you angry.

Deplatforming works (it's part of the reason musk bought twitter)

Network effect seems to have kicked in for Bluesky. I can basically see it sucking users and engagement from X in real time. Now that it's reached critical mass it will accelerate.

Most of us don't want to be in a right wing echo chamber since we're not right wingers. We want to discuss City without those right wing talking points/ political hit jobs forced down our throats.

Anecdotally it's become the first social app I open now instead of X/Twitter and a lot of people I know are basically the same now and I'd be willing to pay for a premium tier also which is defiantly not true for the Musk ruined Twitter.

X/ Twitter has really given "plastics" a bad name. I think everyone that has met a plastic has come across feeling.. nice people.. follow City from afar.. visit once a year, put their money into the club.. raise City's profile overseas.

But on X/ Twitter.. it's like INSTANT FOOTBALL EXPERTS - JUST ADD WATER.

Like how could City fans think retarded shit like that at times.. but it's just bots/ trolls looking for engagement to up their numbers/ social media profiles. Those accounts probably never actually make a trip to the Etihad anyways!

I think the ability to de-platform and block people and opinions you don't like is crucial to the well being of a lot of twitter users and this is what they have not enjoyed under the musk regime. His ludicrous stance seems to be that they will only remove content that actually breaks the law, but it seems he thinks it's fine for people to read things they don't agree with. This will be the ruin of twitter which previously would remove users that didn't comply with right minded social norms.

I am not sure it is more even if you say not interested or irrelevent it still turns up 2 days later.

twitter was sometimes echo chambery but you could still engage with other opinions without it being forced upon you.

I think twitter served a useful purpose as a sort of social and media sump. A new platform will probably just spread the idiots more widely - like tipping your rubbish on your front lawn instead of it all going in the wheelie bin

Well that's the thing isn't it.. and there's truth to it.

A platform stays good and sustainable until it reaches a certain number say 150-200 million users and then the bandwidth charges become too much for its owners to ignore how they can increase revenue.

What most ignore is that the bots for the most part take up the most bandwidth with constant reposting of graphic heavy memes/ videos. Most people just posting a few characters of text of convo is nothing in comparison!

If they really want to maintain it.. they have to police the bots and that actually keeps their own overhead costs down. Besides the bots just look for engagement and are happy with X/twitter earnings and selling off their accounts with 5000 followers for a few dollars.

BTW it seems Jack Dorsey is no longer with Blue Sky so that's a major plus!!!!

The core concept is it being a community focuse venture, bots, ads amd sponsorship is allowed but they don't want it to be the reason for it's existance as twitter became.

whether it is sustainable only time will tell.

I think there's a clear demand of a platform like twitter that's free of right wing ideologies. The right already has truth social and X and the left doesn't want to converse with them.

I mean I don't know if you know but women and men don't want to date people with different political leanings than them. And there's a good deal of incels on the right that're just too toxic towards the left and just others in general.

It's like we live in 2 different worlds and blue sky or another app could flourish there!

What's most funny is Musk and just about every right winger has a grievance against the left's "woke" policies.. how they feel they're disadvantaged by women leaving them high and dry after a divorce or taking all their money for healthcare insurance.

What they lack to understand however is the truly "woke" countries like Finland/ Sweden.. women are required to pay 50% towards child support if there is a divorce.. there's no guys paying all of it towards the women's Louis Vuitton bags and Loubotins heels.
