This pair likened him to a Hitler in the build-up to the election, and he's only got worse since. They have just casually falen into line like every other spineless jellyfish, one can only imagine at the behest of their network bosses and no doubt a sweetener to seal the deal. If they had any integrity as 'journalists' they would have either stuck to their principles or quit.

Maybe the comparing him to Hitler was the spinelessness and lacked integrity and now they are doing their actual job? I imagine the Hitler comparisons were good clickbait at the time.

It all just becomes noise. I've lost track of the amount of 'next hitlers' we've had in the last 10-15 years both at home and abroad. I appreciate it's just hype and rhetoric but there is a real danger of the boy crying wolf and us actually not noticing the rise of the next Hitler.

Not sure that drawing attention to Trump’s multiple crimes and character flaws counts as crying wolf. What more does he have to do before you accept he’s more of a wrong ‘un than pretty much anyone who could have stood against him irrespective of their politics?

Yes, same as Boris here really or bellusconi in Italy - I'm sure there are others. I was responding to a point about TV interviewers who framed him as the next Hitler etc now giving him a platform. Whether we like it or not he's the next potus so some sort of news blackout or de-platforming would just be silly, or in fact something quite sinister.

I wonder sometimes if we are taking our eye off the ball re US politics somewhat? For all his many, many faults, trump isn't in office for another 60-ish days. Meanwhile the world is stumbling ever closer to a global and possibly even nuclear conflict than it has for over half a century, and the man who has his 'finger on the button', and is apparently the leader of the free world is suffering severe cognitive decline. To the extent that even his own party had to concede he was not fit to run for (and therefore presumably also hold) office.

We'll see come Jan 20th, but if you think Trump is ever going to be anywhere close to normal on the sliding scale of political norms, you're delude and the more he's normalised in the media the worse it gets for everyone.

You are misunderstanding what I am saying. I'm not saying trump is 'normal', I'm saying it's perfectly normal for journalists and the media in general to interview/report on the incoming potus. To do otherwise just to placate the large minority that voted against him would be ridiculous and maybe even deluded.

If journalists need to be subservient and not report the truth in order to obtain 'privileged' access to the administration, then they aren't being journalists. The fact that so many media organisations are falling into line suggests that they are potentially fearful that their livelihoods may be at risk for speaking out against the incoming administration, and that is a very dangerous position to be in.
