Running thread

Thanks, 5k is the minimum I've done all the way through

Amazing achievement that Gaz.

I did 1000 days but minimum 15 mins (so a lot of times just 1.5/2 miles) some days were so tough, not just the motivation to go again and again but the time, preparation, working around plans and life and checking the weather! - lockdown worked in my favour - I couldn’t do that nowadays .

5k for 460 days is incredible. My advice would be not to risk your injury further.

Completed Parkrun #115 (everyone's favourite number) this morning at Peel Park in 30:05.
Well done mate. You've overtaken me. Parkrun 109 for me today at Keswick, in 31:19. A bit slower than I'd have liked, but the first half of it was uphill, and I'm still aching after 8km two nights ago along the same track. It's a beautiful course - my second time there.

My son did Harrow Parkrun this morning, and got bit by a snake. He's got a swollen ankle, and is having it checked out this morning.

Parkrun 22:13 I think, minute slower than last week. Knew from the warmup that there wouldn't be another seasons best this week, really heavy legs. Did my first interval session on Wednesday in about 9 months and did it way too quick.

Positive is I was busting a gut to run that time 2 weeks ago.

Probably entering a 10k next Sunday, so probably a couple of weeks before another fast 5k attempt.

Sportshoes doing a Black Friday sale with some decent discounts on shoes, headlamps etc.

ASICS Metaride reduced from 224.99 to 79.99 not sure what they are like maybe @gaz76 can provide a review as he has more shoes than Timpsons.

But not as many key rings!!
I've never had a pair of the metarides, but I do know they are always on offer and get shite reviews, think they must have been a rare occasion where ASICS got it wrong.
I followed that sportshoes black Friday sale for that many years now that it just looks like they copy and paste last year's sale into this years

I did wonder if that might be the case, esp as a lot of the other shoes were like Scott, Puma Nitro which I had not heard of prior to the sale.

Might stick to a headlamp then and see what comes up on Boxing Day.

Yes mate all a loud of crap so far from them, that higher state stuff is their own brand I think and they always trying to give it away.
They do add more everyday until a week on Monday and some of the skins stuff they put on is a bargain but that's usually about it

The tight at £14.99. I did wonder what they were like as I’m trying to keep injury free and as I’m not the best at warming up they might help prevent a few injuries.

Yes I avoid the higher state stuff, as I always think if you want to get a few cheaper options, to pack out your wardrobe, you cannot beat Decathon. Although I’ve never tried the Higher State stuff.

They have added some pretty tempting gear today mate, nimbus at £100, vaporfly 3 £150,

Sat at home desperate to get out but it’s still chucking it down and windy down here. Ran Thursday in the snow, Tuesday (run club) when it was freezing cold, not sure I want the treble of being soaking wet through and blown around like a rag doll.

Did a 10km road run 2 weeks ago, in an effort to get ready to do a 10k race to use up an entry for a pal who was injured. Instead ended up injuring myself by getting a sore knee when running downhill at about 7km.

Bit gutted, physio session hasn’t really helped, other than lightening my walllet. Her main advice was I need to strengthen my core/do Pilates, which I don’t disagree with, but doesn’t help with my immediate knee problem.

Swimming still ok to do, but been out walking today and can still feel the knee - pain behind the kneecap, which I’ve never had before. Will try some cycling this week to see if that’s ok. I could cope with running less, but to only be able to swim would drive me bananas as I’m not the greatest fan of it really. Even once a week is a struggle.
