Martín Zubimendi

Good job you weren’t scouting Rodri and Busquets with the latter not being that quick at all but regarded as arguably the best DM of all time by some. Modric isn’t quick either and at times played a holding role for Madrid.

All of these players are/were world class.
Did I ever claim Zubimendi isn’t talented? Someone asked about his mobility. So I specifically addressed his mobility. Was I supposed to say, he is mobile, when his not? I answered the questioned asked.
Talent and mobility are entirely separate matters, one has nothing to do with the other. Maybe try reading my post properly instead of just skimming through it.

Also, if you think pace isn’t essential—especially given the high line we play and the countless times we’ve been exposed on the break—then I genuinely don’t know what to tell you. Zubimendi isn’t Rodri or Busquets; his spatial awareness and ability to read the game aren’t at that level yet, perhaps in future, but not now. This means he’ll get caught out far more often than you’d be able to tolerate, particularly given the relentless pace of the Premier League.

That is why I also said, Reijnders and either Zubimendi or Ederson, would be a good pairing and balance of what we need!

That reijnders guy was playing for AZ until he was 25. That's championship level. Is he really that good?

Stop acting like you’re a leading football scout.

Please try not to tell me what I’d be able to tolerate or not either. I’ve posted here a while and seen some horrendous takes on here including from people saying players like De Bruyne wouldn’t be good enough for us.

You’re putting Zubimendi below other options due to mobility. Rodri wasn’t that level in overall quality when we bought him either. Many City fans thought he wasn’t good enough after 2 years - although we did win the league in his 2nd season.

Grealish was playing in the championship on his way to 24, it did not stop us paying what we paid, 2 season in the Epl, but yeah, I get what you saying.

Deary me. I though we are here for discussions and opinions.
Also, football scouting has never been, and will never be, my cup of tea.

Is it the only thing you picked up from my post?

Since you’ve "seen some horrendous takes on here," that certainly makes you seem like "a leading football scout," because you must know better!

Again, aren’t we here to discuss opinions?

I answered a question about mobility. Damn you clearly have issues comprehending what I said don't you?

Sorry, but you’re coming across as a right nerd.

Doubt you’ve even been to the Etihad.

Waste of time.

Very heavy on the scientific and mathematical background, and other fields too—things you would likely find extremely boring. Does that qualify as "a right nerd"? If so, I am guilty as charged. Pardon my enthusiasm!

No, actually, offering to take me there?

I would really appreciate it ;)

Calm down now. Do not let your emotions overrule you now. We are here as fans to discuss opinions, chat football, and both critique and compliment players.

You’re doing it again.

Breaking down every part of someone’s post is proper weirdo behaviour best suited to places like Reddit. You wouldn’t even be on here if not for the 2008 takeover.

Clearly your background (and you don’t know mine) doesn’t give you the best understanding of football or footballers going off your current and past posts… I guess there really is such a thing as ‘football IQ’.

Douglas Luiz has been a disaster at Juve.
He's struggled for fitness. In October, he conceded two penalties in four days, both after coming off the bench as a substitute in the final 30 minutes.

Could be the opportunity for a good deal.

Not many people would want some of our players if they watched them during their first few months at the club.

Does he fit into our style of play though?

We passed up on the idea in the summer that Luiz isn't what we really need. I doubt mid season we are going to do the same now. I don't think Zubimendi is the answer either.

He looked fantastic when I watched him for Spain. Not much of a sample, mind, but he is exactly what we need from what I have seen.

If I was hanging around with that Alisha Lehman, I wouldn't have the energy to play ball either.

No he is not, Milan choose to play him more forward than a 6, because he is also very good going forward for a number 8 that can play defensive 6. Have you ever watched much of Reijnders WallyA?

Also, I never claimed he was a "defensive powerhouse." He’s an 8 who can operate as a 6 but also has the ability to push forward like a 10.

That’s why I said pairing him with Ederson or Zubimendi would be ideal.
Are we talking about the same player? These are his defensive stats again.

He doesn't do any defending (perhaps he is not needed to), but I'm not understanding where you get this claim he can be a good 6 and an 8.

Maybe he is good, but he doesn't do it, so that's why I said it.

He seems more like a 10, after watching him a bit.

Why would Sociedad sell one of their best player in the middle of the season?
I think Zubimendi has a release clause? Maybe I'm wrong but I'm convinced I read somewhere that he has a clause in his contract.

So they'll have no say in the matter once it's triggered, All they can do is Tey and convince him to stay which they've done already stopping the dippers getting him.
