Priced out? | Club announce that matchday tickets being reduced by up to 43% (p93)

They're sold out, so many people must think they're worthwhile.
They sold out because if you are a member desperate for a season ticket paying £150 extra is currently the only way.

After multiple summers with very limited or no new season tickets being released there are now enough members desperate enough to pay it, with it looking as though no golds will be made available any time soon.

Partly, there will be some desperate for a season ticket but there will be some matchday buyers that go to about 10 games that bought them because it works out cheaper. How many of either group bought them it’s impossible to know.

A lot of the flexi-goods were for junior members who go to games with an adult season card holder. The up front fee works out at an extra £50’(£75 less £25 membership fee the juniors would be paying anyway). For that they see all the big games on weekends and can miss the lesser games on a “wet and windy Wednesday night”.

A big share of the flexi- goods in the expanded North Stand will be for juniors.

Clearly, people wanting a full adult season card will be less satisfied.

City must have some spare cash, as they have given every Ciity fans £10. credit to spend inside the Etihad. The reason behind that being? Does anyone know? Just out of curiosity.
Probably trying to get rid of beer stocks and food that will be going out of date in a few months.

After campaigning to get away tickets reduced to £30, and that remaining, I thought PL clubs and the fans were heading in the right direction together, especially after empty stadiums during COVID, and the welcome back by the PL clubs and their owners, but it’s getting worse, with club owners constantly increasing match day ticket prices, etc.

The more the broadcast revenue rises the cheaper the tickets should become. The broadcasters are also part of the problem. The simplest solution would be to ringfence part of the broadcast revenue to subsidise home ticket prices and keep them at realistic levels. It should just be part of the contract. The new Regulator would get huge support from fans if they intervened to try and make this happen. Matchgoing fans are part of the spectacle for the TV audience. That was proven by Covid in empty stadiums.

Possibly for the Rags game which more tickets were released today?

They were charging £77 for the Spurs game on alot of areas in the ground. It's scandalous.

I've the same issue as @give it to gordon all I'm getting is single tickets, Most of the time seats that is 6 or 7 seats apart and asking people to move up a seat. I won't go to the football on my own as I wouldn't leave my daughter at home whilst I go to the game. We either both go or don't go at all.

It's a massive issue for fans that can't get tickets that are seated together, The price of tickets also is far too much for certain games.
Just catching up on the thread, but same issue for me as per you and @give it to gordon
Last few times me and other family members have had to sit a few seats apart, and especially when you’re paying matchday prices, that’s no joke really.
I’ve been to watch our women more than our men this season.

It's mad that you've said that, Myself and Daughter have went to every home game for the women as we get seats together, Plus the daughter loves it, She'll watch any football that's City related.

She actually has Shaw on the back of her shirt now, She didn't even contemplate one of them mens players.

Anyway, I'm more than happy to watch Greenwood in the flesh (even though she's a scouser)... :-)

100% pal, and very similar situation for me … though I’m more likely to have Hemp on the back of my shirt than Greenwood ;-)

Plenty of empty seats at Brighton v Southampton tonight, even though Brighton could go 2nd if they win. Brighton are currently winning and are 2nd in the PL. I wonder how much match tickets cost?

PS. Southampton have just equalised. City are still second. :-)

Impossible to get two seats together now as my 86 years old dad who doesn’t speak well after a stroke wont sit alone.
Bought two in Legends recently @£600 but couldn’t travel as I was ill and live 150 miles away.
Contacted City. Not interested.Told us to try selling them privately which I did for £150.

As I said to him Colin he's too blind to see it. I was actually quite kind to him in that initial reply, even though he took it as an attack. We have a few amongst our fanbase with a similar attitude and these price increase discussions always draws them out. "I'm alright Jack, if you can't afford it don't go." Or "Cut out a night at the pub a week then" or some other smug claptrap. One day it will be them priced out and nobody will be left to give a fuck.
I got priced out a while back mainly due to geographically where I live . Missed the buzz of match day initially but as time has gone on I don’t now give it a second thought . Most of the day it was about the pub , laugh and sing song with the game in the middle . That I do miss .
Problem with the I’m alright jack brigade that they don’t see , is that the more traditional fan base from my era of the late eighties onwards are now leaving . A lot of the fans over the last 5-10 years have only known success , when some other team inevitably replaces us at the top consistently, you will be left with either a reduced capacity crowd , an entitled fan base like the one we despised the rags for , or a mixture of the two .
Any club in any division needs most of there support from the local community, it is the heartbeat of the club . I say that as a fan who moved away from the area when I was young , and would welcome tourist fans on the day
So let me get this right, if I don't agree with your view I'm part of the problem? That's just typical of today's social media led society.

The reason why the stadium was half empty was not primarily driven by ticket pricing but rather an apathy amongst our fan base, partly for the Champions League, partly because some fans are fickle and don't want to pay to see us struggling, partly due to arm chair fans, who'd prefer to spend money elsewhere.

I do accept that some fans genuinely can't afford it and I have sympathy there, but that's life unfortunately, we all want some things we can't have.

I also take your point entirely on kids pricing, and agree that (and higher prices in general) are a football thing and not just a city thing. The way to lobby that is not hating on our own club but rather coming together on mass as football fans to challenge the overarching league and regulators.
What I don’t think you’re legislating for is that the club has already driven out a huge chunk of legacy fans due to cost . I chose to give up going as to continue would have had a huge impact financially for the rest of the family .

You miss going at first and as someone who’s era was in the late eighties onwards it’s not just the game , it was the pub , sing song and meeting mates etc .
Once legacy fans have got used to not going , most aren’t coming back . Especially as the football experience for older fans is now a pile of sanitised shite .
What you experienced with midweek will happen more and more as a team takes over from city as top dog which inevitably it will .

You will also see an element of fans who have only known success , when we go a few seasons without a trophy , you will hear a lot of entitled wankers reminiscent of what we despised the rags for in the past .

Don’t be too hasty to excuse the club in its grab for people’s cash . Your match day experience will be poorer for it and every club in every league needs its core fan base locally .

Apologies for the double posts saying practically the same - technical issues shall we say !!!

Only in recent seasons have I been able to go to a few home games a season.
Being based in Dublin the cost to see a game can be varied. Especially if it’s a later kick off and a hotel is required.

Normally, I’ve got tickets through the Matchday Citizen account, however I’ve a fear that this coming season those tickets will be few and far between.

I got an email regarding hospitality pricing and it’s nuts.

Are they pricing fans out of going to the games at this stage?
Or maybe I am just being too sensitive to prices going up?

Sniff sniff sniff

Blues struggling for 2 tickets together might benefit from a helpful OSC.i have a disabled lad and his Mum’s the carer in the Branch. Ve agree to get them tickets through the Access Route when we get to Wembley but it takes up too much of my time for Prem games so they make do. I sorted them 2 tickets together for the Derby but was worried that the seats would have been on the third tier and more difficult with access. Sir Kevin came up trumps with 2 together on Level 1.

We / the Branch only got 2 for the Derby but this is a great help.

Brighton went second due to head to head.
