No it isn’t. It’s just an excuse for people like you who are grealish fan boys. Grealish was lucky he was the only one who could replicate the control that Bernardo and mahrez could offer on the right. If either were able to play on the left jack would not have started imo. The only other option we had on the left was foden and he does not offer the same control grealish offers (although he does offer a goal threat)

Difference being mahrez would score plenty when he started and Bernardo would score big goals (Madrid being the main example). We won the treble in spite of grealish not because of him.

In regards of change of the system perhaps if grealish was available more often maybe we wouldn’t have had to do that. Instead his off the pitch activities have made him unreliable due to increase of injuries and poor training which has led to pep leaving him out the squad totally (such as Fulham away in the midst of a title race).

Jack hasn’t scored in 2024. That in itself is frankly pathetic

Calling people "fan boys", obsessed with goals rather than build and possession leading to record goals and trophies, calling his contribution post injury, and other issues, "pathetic". We"ll leave it there.

& that’s the part I don’t understand. Does it matter that he’s just a cog in the machine & not the main man for individual moments of brilliance if we’re winning things, seeing as it’s a team game?

We all see different things during a game, but for me, we almost always seem to have a wee bit more balance to the team when he plays

Yes it does matter, we are now in a huge dip, Grealish is one of the more experienced players and should become a leader in this situation, he simply isn't.

Exactly. He's a football player who can move. It's better then the other options we have.

Those attributes are essential for us in games like today so why the fk are we waiting til these games are beyond us to get him on the pitch? Same last week with spurs. Game well gone before he's on. We need him starting now. Can understand keeping Kev in reserve a bit more with his age and injury history but not Grealish. Get him starting now

To be fair Grealish and some other experienced players (including Kev Dias etc) got injured BEFORE the dip and did not get a chance to return to fitness. They just returned very recently.

It is understandable to be disappointed but talking about experienced players being leaders there are more than 3 club captains started today (and almost all the games in the past month). Can u explain why they did not lead by examples in all these games?

Grealish has to be fitter than Gundo and Bernardo, that little fella looks exhausted at kick off.

Agreed.

Jack has two even three players on him within a second or even a split second of him receiving the ball. To be able to control, retain and find a team mate with the ball under such pressure is nothing short of brilliant. The fact that he makes it look so easy maybe gives some people the impression that what he’s doing isn’t very special at all but they’re wrong.
 
I mean... people on this forum have been yelling to try Grealish as an 8... hopefully Pep can see it.

He keeps the ball well, tracks back, and has good accurate passing.

Its worth a try.

About time - Jack has the skills but also has that edge about him that gets into teams minds - I hope that in adversity we may have a solution right in front of us. He travels well in possession and will win free kicks for fun - go on Pep do it, I dare you!
