A s**t away end full of tourists

I hate it as well. I hate being told ‘it’s the price of success’. There’s nothing good about it from a core fan’s point of view.

I keep telling lads I know that the seat next to me isn’t a season ticket seat anymore (the lad there was finally priced out a few years ago) so for them to try and get next to me. Not once in a season and a half have any of them been able to get that seat.

Instead it’s been a different foreigner (apart from one lad from Glasgow for Sparta Praha) sat next to me. Half the time it’s a fan of the opposition or opposition player (Lpool at home last season it was a Mo Salah fan, bizarre thing, it’s not tennis where the sport is played by individuals!).

Even when they’re City fans, it’s rare they converse with me, I barely get a single word out of most of them. Even when it’s clear they speak English, they aren’t interested. It’s fucking boring being sat next to them, no conversation and no banter, they don’t sing, they barely get excited apart from the odd ones. Only once (the Glaswegian lad) have any of them chatted to me… and every single cell in my body hates it when they get excited when the opposition or their player for the opposition has a chance or scores.

There was a home game last year where the lad who was there next to me that day was sat with his leg digging into mine as he sat spread eagle, head down with his phone between his legs, I didn’t notice him look up at the game once.
When we scored he looked actively pissed off and didn’t even stand up. I purposely fell over him to hug the lad next door but one to me. He tried to push me off so I shouted in his face ‘WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU HERE FOR?!’. Then when I sat down again, I pointed out the centre point between our seats and told him to move his leg from being miles into my space.

He fucked off before half time and didn’t come back for the second half.

I’d rather have an empty seat next to me.

Hahahaha :)

I know the club didn’t. We all know the club doesn’t seem to care in public. In private to UEFA the club will have complained about the treatment of the fans. But the club couldn’t be arsed making a public statement criticising UEFA, and supporting the fans.
I think it was more geopolitical. City were probably told not to criticise a friend of Abu Dhabi (Turkey). They agreed and fcked us off.

let's say hypothetically city don't get top 4 this season (which is unlikely) and have to play in the Europa League next season. We will have 10k empty seats or more because the tourist types won't fancy it especially on a cold Thursday night against a team from Kazakhstan and legacy fans will be pissed at how the they have been treated by the club over the years so they will not bother. makes me wonder what city long term plan is because it seems they don't have one.
I wouldn’t bother with that and I’m neither! You painted a really grim picture there! :-)

What was the spineless Super League excuse and decision, again?

Me and a mate were in the Darwen End. 1-0 down at HT and queuing for a beer the fukers were sing "bluemoon started singing to soon" really pissed me off so when we equalized I jumped up and cheered-got a few blows to the head but the police relocated us to the away end so all good.
Top day out, we took over Ewood that day! Mental when Goater equalised in the Blackburn end, fists flying everywhere…..watched the match from the corner flag…..conga on the touch line happy daze

Not sure how this is gonna go down ,but I’m a forest fan , and it’s my daughter who is the city fan. We are at the ethiad for her when forest are away usualy, and at the city ground when forest at home. I’m in a city stand on weds, but will be respectful and wouldn’t dream of wearing any forest clobber. Way I see it is, I’m in your house so why would I shit on the carpet. Spoke to some great city fans at games at the ethiad mostly in the south stand. Am genuinely amazed how many tickets are left for this and I know it’s on Amazon. I’ve mates who preferred forest in the championship as it’s a distinctive lack of tourists. But I’d never wanna give up the premier league, but as has been said on here , it seems the lure of the premier league is almost an excuse for owners to shaft legacy fans for day trippers who wil also spend in the club shop. I’ve been asked to take pictures of people loads of times with their backs to the pitch like they are at some tourist attraction, and I don’t mind , but I’ve never seen that at the city ground. I’d like to think this doesn’t come across as me being a day tipper or tourist.

Have a great night on Wednesday mate, just not too much of a great night ;-)

Just to point out I’m not a Jonny come lately at forest either. I had my picture wirh the European cup at primary school in 1980

As a former CM rep, it seemed that the club started off with good intentions but simply didn't understand what fans wanted (which is why we were there). So there was no proper communication and management of changes, like when they shifted everyone to make way for the Tunnel Club but left them to their own devices to arrange alternative seats. In fact they were a bit amateurish in many ways.

Then Roel de Vries arrived and he sounded like someone who knew what he was doing. He told us there was too much silo working and he was going to set up a programme to improve the end-to-end fan experience. And he did, but didn't bother to involve any fans when we were expecting to be fully involved.

Then we'd agree changes with Danny, but they'd get knocked back by either de Vries or Soriano. I lost interest at that point and was quite happy to stand down. It doesn't sound like it's got my better since.
Why does that not shock me at all.

I think with these people in charge we will end up in a very bad place as regards our fan base, they seem intent on short term gain at the expense of everything else.

Shifting everyone for making room for the lah de dah tunnel club says it all, we're in cattle class until these corporate cunts change their attitude towards the mugs living on the ground floor.

I’ve always maintained it’s s not Danny. He’s only doing what he’s told and expected to do by the people above him at City.

I still remember him telling me how he started off in the ticket office at Maine Road and worked his way up at City. He has a lot of time and affection for City fans. Even though he isn’t a City fan, he might as well be one. I’m sure if he had his way, and he was the CEO of City, I’d like to think things would be different for the legacy fans.

The Liverpool home support was more touristy than ever too.
As one of 2 of our branch lucky enough to get a ticket im happy never to go back and let others experience it! , look forward to visiting Evertons new ground providing we both stay up!

Had a good time with the mrs in town pre, post match hotels full of lfc tourists as indeed i expect our new hotel will be on match days.

The prem fixture list gets less anticipated each year and our away ticketing means ive more chance of playing at Anfield than watching these days.

Work permitting , will be there with the other 8k or so to clap the lads off at the final whistle on Wednesday!

Glad the dipper got sparked out though.
That happened 2 minutes after I got back on the coach and was right next to the window where my seat was. I didn’t see it as I wasn’t looking and only noticed something had happened when I heard the commotion. One of the other lads on our coach saw it as he was walking almost alongside him. He did fuck-all wrong. There were some other Liverpool fans gobbing off but it wasn’t him. Someone dived off the coach behind ours and sparked the fan out from behind. The guy on our coach who saw it all said his head hit the floor with a sickening thud. Liverpool fan or not, proper ****’s trick that. He was out cold for a good 4 or 5 minutes. There were City fans trying to justify an innocent fan being knocked out ffs. One said he stumbled before he hit the floor which was utter horseshit.

Thanks for the clarification, and you’re right, totally out of order.
