Crystal Palace (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

This group of players have given absolutely everything these last few years and deserve some slack.

Loads of factors conspiring against us. Our injuries are a joke. Perhaps the biggest one of all though is that we seem to have run out of steam. It’s almost inevitable.

Season after season there’s been a target. No-ones done 100 points.

No-one done a domestic treble.

Club never won a CL.

Throw in a treble.

No-one done 4 in a row.

It’s been relentless and I’m not sure what mountain we were expected to climb this season. Whatever it was, injuries have put paid to it. One of them impossible to overcome.

So it’s gonna be a long season, filled with games like today.

I don’t care. They deserve our slack.

We were okay, didn’t create a lot, not enough movement in the box, not enough creativity on the pitch. Passed the ball a bit quicker than we did in the defeats but still defended a but soft in the FB positions and midfield, worked hard in the press today though.

Palace were similar, they were alright. Worked hard without doing anything special bar the odd chance we gifted them.

Draw probably fair results. Both managed 12 shots, Palace 3 to City 4 shots on target, Palace 1.2 to City 1.5 xG.

Collectively and individually, the lack of fitness and sharpness is absolutely fucking wild. They look like the fitness regime is one sit up, a Christmas toblerone and a full pouch of Drum.

First half looked like the first game of pre-season, i cant believe that injuries are the sole cause. Most of these players have been fit for months at this point but cannot run.

Anither bobbins performance, a point saved by Dias.

To be honest, it was exactly what I expected after Wednesday. It was never going to last.

Too many passengers. Down to Pep and Txiki this one. Top four would be a great achievement with this squad.

Roll on the January window...
top 4 is a must for me ,if we want to add world class players in the summer.

Credit to the travelling Blues who made the long journey on poor weather. Thank you for your support.

We fought back twice and might have won if the ref had got a decision the right way round. We are still crying out for a solid right back, a defensive midfielder and a second striker .

Fixation will be on the ref but it shouldn't be, the reality is we were shit again. That's a Palace side that's seriously struggling right now and we made them look like European contenders at times. Other wannabe champions win that kind of game by 4 or 5 at a canter. That's how far off we are.

I said after Forest the glaring problems hadn't gone, Kdb and doku just masked them temporarily and today we are back to being wide open with everybody running forwards but nobody running backwards.

Our press is absolutely shite, We hardly ever get even close to getting the ball and we get played around without much effort needed from the opposition the majority of the time. It's now like watching a sunday league side try and press because they've seen us do it and want to replicate it without having any understanding of how to actually do it. Nobody ever tracks a man either, they always pass it on without even checking and simply chase the ball. We must be the easiest side in the top 4 divisions to play around, the most basic of give and go's and you're in.

Stop it, we were missing Ake and Akanji, still pulled out an away draw. You're really suffering Bin Dipper and Manure syndrome.

Looking at the bigger picture, I suppose a draw isn't too bad when you consider the appalling starting line up that Pep picked and his reluctance to change it until it was too late
