Crystal Palace (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I would like to see the KDB foul that Rico got a yellow for. Looked like he won the ball to me and if so why shouldn’t Rico call the ref out. Don’t mind that. Watched the lung again and still don’t think he made contact. Even Neville is backtracking on his verdict now

I understand why he might want a small squad but it’s high risk - when you lose 6-7 players out or unfit it is disastrous. No five in a row this season but the last four have been wonderful.
having a small squad has seen us do ok for nine years , nobody could have forseen the amount of injures we have at once and players carrying knock not doing great

it is what it is , all those wetting the bed expected us to win five in a row , it was never going to be possible , as for the glory hunters crying , do me a fucking favour

Fixation will be on the ref but it shouldn't be, the reality is we were shit again. That's a Palace side that's seriously struggling right now and we made them look like European contenders at times. Other wannabe champions win that kind of game by 4 or 5 at a canter. That's how far off we are.

I said after Forest the glaring problems hadn't gone, Kdb and doku just masked them temporarily and today we are back to being wide open with everybody running forwards but nobody running backwards.

Our press is absolutely shite, We hardly ever get even close to getting the ball and we get played around without much effort needed from the opposition the majority of the time. It's now like watching a sunday league side try and press because they've seen us do it and want to replicate it without having any understanding of how to actually do it. Nobody ever tracks a man either, they always pass it on without even checking and simply chase the ball. We must be the easiest side in the top 4 divisions to play around, the most basic of give and go's and you're in.
No at the Forest game we had Ake fit which helped our defence big time, Grealish in midfield also helped, then all of a sudden Ake is out again and Grealish "feels unwell" whatever the fuck that means, and Akanji out too means we have to play both Walker and Lewis, you can't have any consistency when you constantly have to change your defence which gets zero protection from the non existent midfield anyway.

Chill mate.

This team has come to the end of it's cycle, it's can't go on forever.

What's happening now i thought would happen last year or the one before that but they put their bodies on the line again and again and produced 4 in a row.

This season has caught up with the team. Players are constantly injured because of what they've achieved in the last 4 years. If we can limp it through to January and make a couple of signings then next summer recruit and recruit well we'll be fighting again but this season isn't going to get any easier. If we get top 4 we've done extremely well, that's all we can aim for.
We all need to step back and let this season be the transitional one for going again next year.
Yes we as fans get that. Stick behind the team, players have been absolutely brilliant.

My issue is with the club. They have completely taken their eye off the ball. No guarantees that we will recruit well in the future going off our recent past. For every Dias we have a savio.

For every Rico we have a Palmer.

Lot of mistakes currently being made. They wanted a world class club on a shoe string due to pep. We should all be pissed mate.

The board are not above reproach because we have won trophies. They set the high limit and have failed now for a few seasons.

The players and pep who are now both dead on their feet deserved more.

If reports are true we have told a number of players they won’t be here next season. There is no way we are going to get a tune out of those players this season as we have seen. I think it could be a significant number out of the door. Therefore, it’s all about getting through this season best we can, and hopefully top four. I think it would be much better focusing on the top four than CL at this stage, as can’t see us winning it. Top four would be advantageous in attracting new players. It’s going to be a long old season, but think we will rebuild successfully in the summer, and be ready to challenge again next season.

That's like a breath of fresh air.

Far too many people accept mediocracy.

We all know the excuses now. It’s been talked about to death.

The club is responsible for giving the manager a group of player to win games. They have failed to do that.

We have a group of players who are too old or not good enough with the odd player like Dias and Haaland sitting in between them.

The players should have been replaced in the summer. Leave the sentimentality to the fans.

Watching great players look like shit is a sad sight. Rodders out but the decline from the rest is pathetic.

When do we stop making excuses?

Get on with it.

This season is a complete right off. That’s on the club.
Do you expect to win the league every season? I thought we did really well to win it last year. These things are cyclical. Our purchases in recent years haven’t really worked out.
These aren’t excuses. It’s just life - we go again next game , next transfer window, next season. Maybe we will be lucky and have another phenomenal 10 to 15 years. Or maybe we won’t.

Lewis :) He did well to score, but we are a worse team with him in 5 from 6 games in which he starts. It's not a coincidence we played our best game this week without him. He and Walker are useless in defence, more than Gvardiol who was overplayed. Also, what has Foden done this season to be a firm starter? 0 goals and 1 assist, that's worse than Savinho...
Who needs enemies with mard arses like Bluemoon.

We have been saying that walker, and lewis playing together is not working.
Rico lewis is not defender neither midfielder.
Pep is not learning his mistakes, he could have played same line uo from last week apart from Ake and akanji

Exactly how I see it mate

Savinho is truly dreadful.

Walker just needs to leave at this point.

As for Pep giving Doku and Jack 10 and 5 mins respectively is a fucking joke.
I'm really confused about how poor Pep's decisions have to be for people to begin apportioning him his fair share of the blame for this season's performances and results. No-one is saying he isn't a legend of world football but now is now.

Can't say we didn't battle in the game it's just that with so many injured players fatigued a point is ok!

Waste of time laying into certain players it's not there fault it's on the board and pep! expecting this season like the 4 seasons on the bounce where players have played so many games, the chance of what's happened now injures fatigue setting in was so high!

Top five have a go at champs league and fa cup!

If we don't win nowt so be it!

Defensively shit(except Dias who was great).

Passing ability has reached a worrying level, either sideways, backwards or give it away for 99% of passes.

One or two players too weak in the finishing department.

Players getting bullied out of possession constantly.

Having said that, the ref was trolling today surely, ONE foul given to us before Jack came on at 87 mins or thereabouts, including sending Rico off for being fouled, a suspicious stat.

Re the second yellow, did the ref take advice before wielding the card, because var would know they cant reverse it, also suspicious.

Beating the rags next week would be the high point so far this season, sad but true, just like old times.

Pep was fuming, maybe thats a good thing given his character.

Until we start getting some bodies back we are going to struggle in every game.. This injury situation is like a curse. I'd say most fans while hoping for the best feared the worst on seeing our lineup. We didn't lose which is a plus point.

Walker and Gundogan are finished at the top level but we have to keep on playing them because we have nobody else. The same with Rico. He needs taking out of the firing line but he has to keep on playing.

We desperately need players back fit and staying fit! At the moment they come back for one game and are injured again. It's going to be a tough few months.
