Living in the UK advice.

What a whining ****.

If your mate misses the English culture and humour he's going to get what he wants when he returns.

If he loves good weather and a beach, I'd suggest he stays where he is.
 
1)The country is shit
2) Thet weather is shit
3)The roads are shit (potholes)
4) City are shit

Due to number 4 being added, there’s fuck all to be happy about here. Stay in OZ

I live in Scotland but many of the descriptions apply:
Roads are dreadful and getting worse
Service culture? No
Meals out? Spot on unless you choose very carefully + Edinburgh has some cracking top notch restaurants but be prepared to pay top dollar.
Towns - have had the heart ripped out
Prices - rip off Britain

Scenery - world class
At least Farrage isn't popular up here.
 
If you’re not skint and live in nice place, England is great. Manchester has totally changed since I grew up in Gorton and Levenshulme. I left for lovely Harrogate, North Yorkshire in early 80’s, have lived in rural villages and been in a small Cotswolds Market Town since the late 90’s. If we move again I’d go to Wells or Bradford on Avon etc - some beautiful places. The weather can be a bit shit at times but you’re close the Europe and Ireland which are easy to visit. Australia is beautiful, but a bit one-dimensional and isolated down there - I’d take UK/Europe any day given a choice. But it’s down to personal choice in the end - thank fuck we are all different.
 
First thing he needs to read up on is his rights to bring his wife in.

Why would anyone come back to UK if living abroad in a developed country

Tell him not to bother. I see a post replying to this saying the high streets are full of pound shops. Well actually, we’ve moved on from pound shops, now we’ve got endless amount of Turkish barbers, foreign owned vape shops and takeaway shops. The high street near me hasn’t even got a butchers anymore. The heart and soul of Britain is vanishing. The weather is wank, we’re getting more ripped off as the years go along and the weathers wank.

Did I mentioned that the weather is wank?

I’m fortunate that I’ve got a decent job and plan on fucking off when I’m 50.
 
Not sure why any of you bothering to reply. It isnt a true story, there isnt a mate coming back over who is selling his stuff off and had a bout of cold feet after seeing some internet guff. Its a bollocks thread most likely inspired the hotels thead and the ignorant bollocks being posted on the Syria thread
 
How you experience the UK (or many countries) will depend on where you live. I was born in Crumpsall and now live in a very small village in the Oxfordshire countryside - quite a contrast.

I drove to that godforsaken place Selhurst Park on Saturday and went of quite the magical mystery tour, thanks to Waze on the way home. On the way their it took me through Croydon. Another contrast and largely quite horrible.

Weather is a pain in the UK and getting worse.

I did a secondment in Nashville Tennessee back in the late 80's and sometimes wonder if I should have tried to stay there.

Supporting City has probably kept me in this country; if I was a young man now, I'd definitely consider moving abroad.
 
It's all relative. What's the budget. If you have a low level of assets and income then you are going to find the UK a dump. Same applies in Australia.
 
My advice is simple: avoid the cities. UK in the country is fine.
 

The north west is a great place to live football, music and surrounded by countryside Rossendale or the Peak District, if it was your home then this is the place to live.
Australia can’t be all that ? as I know two people returning home one on December 19th back to their home town after decades in Oz, where the pull of family life is greater than the wide open space of Canberra or Melbourne.

Manchester has changed beyond all recognition ripped apart with traffic restrictions and glass skyscrapers but it’s still home the place you were born the Victorian infrastructure round the canals, rivers, railways and the people are still the same.

Family ties in Australia then stay there, if you have family ties in the North West “welcome home”
“Where ever I lay my hat that’s my home” one of the posters had that on here I can’t remember who now
