Club World Cup - Summer 2025

Screenshot 2024-12-11 at 18.06.28.png

I've just noticed that real madrid are playing in an intercontinental cup ? So if you win the champs you now have to play in the CWC and this cup and of course it's being played in Qatar.

The best stadium of the three games by far is the Merc-Benz in Atlanta. Retractable roof A/C. Don't fancy Orlando in that heat with no cover.

A little inside tip for anyone attending the game in Atlanta; If you are not in the designated City section, buy the cheapest seat you can. Enter the stadium early and get to one of the four bars on the middle level that open to the pitch. You can get your drink, turn around, walk 10 feet and lean up against the railing and watch the whole match. With drink replacements taking a couple of minutes.

You’ll never need to sit in your allocated seat.

It replaces the Club World Cup for this year.

The Club World Cup was played between the various Continental Champions every year. Now an expanded version will take place every four years, in 2025 in the USA.

The Intercontinental Cup will take its place as an annual competition between the champions of each Federation,

Real Madrid will win.

Looking forward to seeing you Blues in my hometown (Philly) it is a great town for visitors.
As a special treat for City support, my Mummers club will be hosting a party for City supporters starting at 7:00 am on the day of the match. Chances are it will be open bar with food for approximately $50. The club is less than 3 miles away from the stadium so it is about an hour walk, a $30 cab or Uber. For those of you unfamiliar with the term Mummers, Google is your friend.
Feel free to DM me if you plan to attend so I can get an idea of beer/spirits preferences and a ballpark idea of food prep.
At 69 year's old, I have been blessed with the opportunity to to witness the wonderfulness of MCFC in my hometown, a city that I love even with its flaws.
I think that you will find Philadelphians quite similar to Mancunians in their temperament and sarcastic wit.
I hope to be able to associate the names I have read thousands of times with faces while watching a City victory.

Is Kensington as dodgy as everyone makes it out to be?

In a word, yes. When I grew up it was an amazing place, on one little block there were 7 football clubs, clubhouses. It was the soccer hotbed of the east coast. In the late 70's and 80's the factories all closed, the Crack epidemic started and the zombies took over.
Fortunately, for obvious visitors, the normal citizens of my good city will steer you clear of there and point you to some of the great neighborhoods that we have here.

Well all booked for the group stage. Manchester - New York Monday 16/6 train to Philly Tuesday 17/6. 2 nights in Philly then train to Baltimore for 2 nights then flight to Atlanta for 3 nights. Then flight to Orlando for 3 nights. Flight home from Orlando on Fri day 27/6. Nice little break.

My Plan, God and Pep willing.

Arrive Sun 5pm New York, train to Philadelphia.

Monday, June 16 -

Flamengo vs. Esperance de Tunis, 9 p.m. (Philadelphia)

Tuesday, June 17 -

Fluminense vs. Borussia Dortmund, 12 p.m. (East Rutherford)

Wednesday, June 18 -

Manchester City vs. Wydad AC, 12 p.m. (Philadelphia)

Thursday, June 19 - Fly home pm

Dont think I can stretch to the other City games on a financial or physical basis (FOC who hates the sun) but you never know lol.

Do any of our USA based Blues have a good link for booking trains and also one for sourcing hotels, similar to our booking.com?
See you over there!

You might want to check out center city or old city if you are not coming by yourself you should look into airbnb . Baseball tickets are relatively easy to come by and will be relatively cheap considering what FIFA is going to charge for the football.
