United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

They were shit scared out there. What is the captain doing? Fucking falling on his arse tryna get players sent off that’s what. Is he giving a bollocking to his players? Do they even react to him if he is? I mean we are an actual joke right now but who the fuck in that dressing room is pulling people by the neck? Does it really fucking need Rodri to come from the massage table and tell you cunts to do your job? I can forgive Nunes, an 8 being asked to play fullback who didn’t have a poor game. But once again the supreme headlosss is just unforgivable from the squad. They’ve all been part of it. There’s a mental corruption right now that I don’t even think players coming back from injury can fix.

LOL not at all. I think there's been some serious lapses at strategic level at the club for a couple of years and it's going to take some time to sort out. The players we're putting out at the moment simply aren't good enough for the things we want to achieve. Sitting behind your keyboard and calling them a bunch of spineless fucks is frankly embarrassing.
Spineless fucks.
Highly paid professionals who have no back bone and fold and collapse the second the pressure is on

but you see so much more live than you see on the TV. You see more of the body language, and the desire to win a 50/50 ball or close and attacker down.

But I do agree, and have been saying myself, that there have been serious shortcomings at the top level. Someone at the game today told me their pal worked at the club around the time of the takeover. Garry Cook called everyone together at Carrington and said that the plan was to win the CL and several PL titles by 2025. We've done that, but it's not clear that we reevaluated our strategy in the last few years. We've rested on our laurels and are seeing the outcome of doing that.

I've speculated there's more focus on CFG than on City itself. Txiki has admitted the failings. There's even question marks over Pep's ability to motivate these players. This is why this situation feels different and more dangerous than previous rebuilds when we've had to replace the likes of Kompany, Fernandinho, Silva, Ageuro and others. We actually did that and got even better but the replacements in the current crop look distinctly second rate. If we don't start getting it right, it could be a long road back.

I think there's a case that having to motivate a team after winning the league four years on the bounce is unchartered territory and I don't know that anyone could do it.

I honestly just think it's time for a massive freshen up and I think that's a normal and fine opinion to have without needing to get personal about players' integrity.

How do they get any better if they never play ? We've lost 8 out of the last 11 games having won one game - we've conceded the most goals of any team in the top 5 European leagues in that run. Does these statistics not mean anything to you ? No alarm bells ringing ?
Meanwhile we watch our ageing former stars barely able to raise a jog let along a sprint. I posted in the match thread that De Bruyne, Haaland and Foden all looked fucked after 15 minutes.
If there were signs of our returning players making a difference then I'd agree with you - but clearly they are making no difference at all.
They do play now and then and are miles off it. If you're saying deliberately sacrifice games - then OK. We might as well.
But news alert - non of the current lot are the answer.

Pep hands are tied right now
5 or 6 players should be benched and somebody else playing but Peps has nobody to turn to and players are playing because nobody else is fit enough, Pep can not go in and roast the players really

We Need Something BIG to happen Good or Bad, Reactions happen in both and we need to clear the air and take the pressure off the Club and Fans, Pep may feel he needs to walk away or the club feel he needs a rest and let him leave

I said after the Juventus game the next 4 league games would be key to everything that happens in the Jan window
We need to be still in the race for a top 4 place and then our season could be saved, But after today I feel where is our next win coming from and Villa away we could be 8th or 9th

Pep is far too good of a manager to be letting this happen, in fact, does he want the sack because he knows the only way he leaves is if he can not do any more to improve this squad and gets the sack
Why sign a new two year contract and want eh sack a few weeks later

I thought he had a decent game. Like seemingly everyone else though he has a fuck up in him
He didn't, he tried to play everything safe and simple, was wrong footed regularly and if they had attacked him earlier he would have made those mistakes earlier in the game.
Contributed nothing to a home performance where you have yo control a game. Did plenty to lose it though.

One of the worst decisions Pep has made playing him in that position today.

Sooner he leaves the better, just not good enough.

Well said mate.

When Nunes went flying into the back of Diallo I'm sure everyone thought 'I don't have a clue about football at this level so maybe Nunes did do the right thing'
That's your comeback- as if that's the point I am making- I'm talking about the muppets suggesting that they know more than pep guardiola as to how to set up the team that's won everything over the last 7 years. You probably fall into that category considering you are offended

Embarrassingly emotional thread.

That last mad 5 minutes aside we were much the better side. That 5 minutes doesn’t happen and everyone’s buzzing saying we’ve steadied the ship etc.

You can’t blame Pep for Nunes being a **** for their first. You can’t blame Pep for no one putting pressure on the ball for a good 5 seconds before Martinez puts Amad in for the second. You can’t blame Pep for Ederson (again) making a complete **** of himself by rushing out when he had no chance of getting it,

Mad, ridiculous individual errors. That’s it. Fuck all to do with Pep.

I suggest some of you log off and sleep on it you sound like 6 year old girls.
And you sound like an ostrich with your head in the sand.

Dipperpool havent won 6 out of 7 Pls, or 4 in a row PLs, or won the CL, or been in a CL semi,or won the ECC or the WCC.

That cumulative load of intense, high stress, games has overloaded the players physicaly & mentally.

They are drained to empty, then a vicious cycle of injuries, illness, loss of form, loss of confidence a perfect storm of rinse and repeat leads us to where we are now.

Shouting abuse and turning on the players should be beyond City fans, leave that to the rags.

The squad could've/should've been evolving with elite young players during the last 18 months.....strengthen and refresh when you can not when you must.

It hasnt, and therfore the same players have had to play out of position when half fit or ill only to be injured again....rinse and repeat.

Slagging the current World and English Champions off will do more harm than good, and play right into the hands of our vile detractors.

Now is the time to say nowt and keep our councel.

Fwiw.....I beleive the 'rot'
started in the week leading up to the cup final.

The hitherto most professional, hard headed and focused players of the modern era, demonstrated breathtaking complacency in believing they could win a cup final having been on the piss for days.

We lost, and the first chinks of the 'rot' had appeared .

This perfect storm hasnt blown out yet, and is going to take careful management in the coming weeks and months.
Bang on. Our approach and attitude changed exactly when we didn’t prepare for a cup final against our enemy to win a double.

No matter how bad it may feel.

We will all be here tomorrow. That’s all that matters.

The list of issues is endless. Supporting city is more than a defeat against the rags who by the way are crap.

Chin up and let’s see how we get on next week.

Pep needs to get on the pitch with them and figure out why we are so disjointed in all aspects. No point crying about what we are missing but get into a mind of thought as to how we can stop getting beaten.

Huge shake up needed.
A week without a mid week game may help everyone.

Instead of being derogatory tell me where I'm wrong.
Yep one of several who spend their time complaining about people having a go at the players ( in fairness some are a bit rash ) but don’t actually offer anything in the way of explaining what’s actually going on in the present or for that matter even about the game this “ post match “ thread is about!

They’ve been hiding behind excuses now for too long. Nothing has happened to warrant these performances. They don’t do anything with intensity. They can’t even fucking defend as a unit. I don’t expect us to win every week but I expect to see highly paid professionals show abit of effort
