United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I have always believed in the theory of co-relation is not causation but I have to ask - is it the 115 charges?

There is a mental block in the team not witnessed before - have they heard something and the hard working lot who built 4 title winning seasons with their blood and sweat suddenly feel disillusioned.
The 115 charges issue raises its head on a regular basis, but it has been part of City life for around 18-20 months IIRC, and we've won two titles, the FA Cup and the Champions League since then.
The only way it could impact on performances is if people at the club know the likely result and the likely punishment, and while the result could be guessed by a pessimist, the punishment will be totally arbitrary and can't be guessed as there are no precedents.
Our current position suggests a ten point deduction would leave us out of Europe for next season, but we'd have still finished top had we received that punishment in at least two of our title-winning seasons. - Our current form implies a ten point deduction would leave us close to relegation but that's another matter.
At the game two people mentioned rumours of a forty point deduction. They claim this came from "someone high up at the club" but I took it with a pinch of salt as I simply can't believe the information could be kept from the scavenging hyena's of the media freak show. However if it's true we could be in real shit as losing forty points could leave us below the dotted line without a huge upturn in form in the new year.
The bottom line is we just don't know, but it's worth reminding people that the Premier League and their red-shirted bosses will want what they see as a quick fix. It opens a can of worms if they expel us as the EFL don't have to accept us, hence silly comments about the North West Counties League etc. But a heavy points deduction leading to relegation automatically puts us in the Championship, and it's job done.
Finally back t0 the game - It's Monday morning and I'm still fuming. That performance was horrible and a proper team would have been level and then ahead much earlier than the rags were. I doubt we'll go down without a heavy points deduction but we sleep-walked into the second division in 1983, second in November and as high as 9th in January. A draw at Villa Park and wins against Everton and West Ham shouldn't be beyond us, but none of those teams are as shit as the rags.

Anyone see that minibus /taxi after the game outside the grove chants of Utd Utd from it next thing it’s being pulled to bits 2 rags ran off down the road
and the driver took off on the wrong side off the road like sterling moss nearly getting squashed by a tram:):) fucking hell wing mirrors wipers destroyed doors bodywork took some hammering
gobby reds ...being gobby. They never learn....ever

At the moment we wouldn't win an arse kicking compy against a one legged man.

We will in the future tho and get it together.

I was walking near a lad in his 20's and his mate by the tram stops after the game, he was on a full on rant to his mate who could only get the odd yeah in, you all know the sort. Anyway I lost earshot with them but as I got to my car on Grimshaw Ln he was still going at it. It somehow warmed my heart.

For myself, I was very unhappy but chilled enough from driving when I was home just past 20.30 to not cause stress in the house.

We celebrating a mode of transport being attacked now are we? Thought we hate the scousers for that.
United fans will celebrate an unexpected derby win, the same way we would. That's football. Coming out I heard lads saying "the first red I see I am lamping him one" Why? Because we lost a game of football? A lot need to grow up.

Morning Blues..
Worst night sleep.Horrible going to sleep disappointed and waking up thinking fuck I need need to avoid all newspapers and websites (apart from this) for a few days while I get over it. Probably the worse derby defeat ever for me and i have been going since 1978 and seen some good hidings but the City teams of the past always had battle siege mentality.Yesterday was like a training ground session.. Abysmal especially against the worse rag team all of us have ever seen.We should have sent them back to Trafford with feck all.

Least we have a week off now.Might watch the Hammers tonight and enjoy a match without having to worry about anything.

Keep the faith..Come on City
CTWD.
Erm… Bournemouth win and they could go above us!!

Two blues were having a scuffle outside CB and this was well before kick off. People need to handle their booze or just don't drink.

More than drink mate, absolutely turbo charged.

Guy at the bottom of 118, the whole match tragedy chanting. Relentless it was, whilst it doesn't offend me I was close to having a word with him, one steward pulls that up and he's in court and banned for 3 years, It isn't worth it. He was that charged though I left him to it.

It's the manner of defeat . Had we been 2 down after 10 minutes and battled back to try and salvage a draw, most folk would accept that. But no, we have to go back in time like its 2009 and let that pile of poo score twice late on after barely threatening us for the previous 85 minutes.
Bloody painful

Polite reminder that everyone outside wants us to sack the manager.
Won’t happen. Khaldoon would never act that way towards pep no matter the results. Sensible discussions needed and if we spend properly in Jan this will all go away. The problem is that we haven’t bought well recently.

Still think pep deserves at least 2 windows of quality players and set us up for the next winning cycle. I hope we use the window wisely and stop worrying about the optics.

We have suffered some horrible Derby defeats since the takeover :
  • The late Owen winner
  • League Cup semi final at OT
  • The possible league clincher when 2-0 up and Sterling missing numerous chances
  • The Cup final
But this one feels different. In the defeats above we knew we were on the ‘up’ or undoubtedly the better team, but this feels different (Not that United are any better)

How have we let De Bruyne, Gundogan, Ederson, Walker, Stones, Ake and Silva (all over 30 and some injury prone) remain in the squad without gradually replacing them…..especially when Pep prefers a smaller squad.

I know we won the league last season but the signs were already there.

Pep has got plenty of credit in the bank but his utilisation of the younger players over the seasons has been poor and there have been times when we were either blowing teams away or that we were so far in the lead in the league that he could have played one or two of the youngsters so that they could have been ready to step into situations such as we have currently, rather than persevering with some of the old guard who can barely raise a jog.

I’m hoping Pep stays but he’s not above criticism and maybe a new DOF will freshen things up and is what is required.

Embarrassingly emotional thread.

That last mad 5 minutes aside we were much the better side. That 5 minutes doesn’t happen and everyone’s buzzing saying we’ve steadied the ship etc.

You can’t blame Pep for Nunes being a **** for their first. You can’t blame Pep for no one putting pressure on the ball for a good 5 seconds before Martinez puts Amad in for the second. You can’t blame Pep for Ederson (again) making a complete **** of himself by rushing out when he had no chance of getting it,

Mad, ridiculous individual errors. That’s it. Fuck all to do with Pep.

I suggest some of you log off and sleep on it you sound like 6 year old girls.
Correct analysis.

I said a few weeks ago about how it's doing my head in that none of the players are willing to be petty when necessary.

Yesterday Haaland should be hitting the deck as soon as Hojlund wraps both his arms around him. Minimum he should be running up to the referee screaming straight after.

It's all game every game with Erling and has been for a while and as much as it's nice to see players rising above all that gamesmanship bollocks, we are struggling and can't afford to pass up on those advantages.

People want to slag off the officials and they're right but it is what it is. It's up to us to draw attention to the incidents when those cowards would rather duck out of making a decision.

When even the fucking commentators and producers are immediately drawing attention to the incident, you know it's a fucking nailed on penalty.

That one moment isn't why we lost but highlights the complete lack of ruthlessness that has cost us dearly already this season. There will be nothing - no cup, no top four finish, no improvement - until that's addressed.

No ruthlessness from Pep, no ruthlessness in the back line, no ruthlessness from Erling and no ruthlessness from any of the players who were never ruthless to begin with.

We are absolutely fucking chock full of ruth.

As bad as things are one of the worst things yesterday was the fact that our captain is so seemingly devoid of leadership qualities.

We used to have real leaders. Even when we were pretty poor in terms of football quality or results.

This is another reason why change is needed. A new set of leaders need to emerge.

We were shit bar literally a few moments of decent passing. We didn't just lose the game because of a few defensive lunatic moments. We lost the game because we didn't win the ball often enough, didn't maintain possession often enough, didn't attack often enough didn't have shots often enough and didn't score more than one goal.

Our creativity is gone. Has been for weeks and has been declining for months before any injury crisis.

We were not the better team before united equalised.

Whether Pep stays or goes we can't delude ourselves into thinking we are unlucky. This crisis is deep. Imo at least.
