Ahsan on the 93.20 podcast is spot on where he says the city board have been complacent in the markets since the treble.

Gundo is the perfect example. Yes we sound hypocritical because we was happy to see him back however we’re not sporting directors who are paid very well to make calculated decisions. That transfer should of been knocked on the head immediately and sign pep a player with similar characteristics instead.
Sporting directors made a calculated decision that Rodri is the best in the world, Kovacic is a very capable deputy and behind that is the likes of Stones. Hardly could have for seen everyone getting injured all at once.

Gundogan was brought back as a super sub and cup player to get one final goodbye.

Skriniar would be available in january, why not for a good price.

I've mentioned this before mate, and that is I think sentiment tinged with a bit of nostalgia got the better of a few people in regards to Gundo returning.

Which would be a sentimental decision. They should of gone out and buy a ready made midfielder.

Was for more than a sentimental decision, come on now. He was unarguably one of the top midfielders in La Liga last season. And we didn't have to pay a fee, and we needed depth at the position. And we missed out on bringing in our main targets. The transfer couldn't have made more sense.

Think a new winger is unlikely.
We've already got these players who have played lots of minutes on the wing in the past couple of years.
Doku
Savio
Grealish
Bobb
Bernardo
Foden
Not a single reliable goal contributing player in that list outside of foden and he's more central going forward.

Let’s face the it the fanbase is absolutely dying for that new signing dopamine.

Didn’t really feel the same with Savinho because he was signed way before the summer and Gundo’s return felt like he’d been on a sabbatical

I haven't read of any links, but Brenford's Mbeumo have always thought looked a good player. Quick, athletic and scores. Just 25 years of age.

Seems unlikely though.

Only 25! Christ. I thought he was older.

He's fantastic now and has an even higher ceiling. Would love us to go for him.

I've read links to Liverpool in the past, though.

We all knew last season this midfield would be in big trouble if Rodri got injured. That’s why I’m saying the board have been complacent. It should of been addressed and signing a 34 year old Ilkay on a free wasn’t the answer

The board wasn't in a rush to sign Bruno G. They had certainly over gambled by re signing Gundo but we did rest Rodri for the two games (one of which was vs Chelsea) and introduced him against Arsenal who decided to do a hatchet job on him and ended his season.

It's the exact same situation with Haaland. He's playing virtually every minute of every game because we haven't got a back up. I'm not sure playing him until he breaks is a sensible strategy.

Seems to me for whatever reasons, probably a few of them and we can all hazrard various guesses at , we decided last summer not to spend and try and squeeze another season out of this squad. I don’t beleive it’s an accident we only bought a CFG player and a last minute Gundogan on a free.It was a decision made by those at the top of the club.
I expect we thought we could rest or lose Rodri for a few games and get away with it, not allowing for a season long injury., and those first few games we did. Obviously now that looks a mistake, but we don’t know all the reasons behind those spending decisions last summer, maybe we never will.
