I learnt this pretty quickly when I moved to the States. Americans will use ‘graft’ where we will tend to use ‘grift’. The sense of graft as ‘hard work’, which is colloquial and fairly northern in British English, is totally lost on them.

I'm not sure how many people in the UK would recognise 'grift' as a term.
I'd usually think of a swindler for the term.

In the context, graft is from about the 1860s, grift from 1902 ish.

I should get out more, I know. But can I interest you in Agent Orange's new book, just $99 and guaranteed not written by him. For $499 you can get a signed copy - not that anyone actually thinks it's been signed by him, and not a signing machine.
 
four years of extreme are going to come - when all these nutters find out that cutting everything leaves you with a poor workforce and nothing gets done by people who are dying on the streets with no medical support and the poor people who spend at Maccy's and Buccee's run out of cash and Trump learns that tariffs on Chinese goods are not paid by China ............ he could lose them their G7 rating in just 4 years lol

As I’ve said, this can only occur if Congress (The House & Senate) allows it to happen!

They hold the purse strings and they write the laws. The President definitely has power (he can start a nuclear war, for one!), but not the power of the purse or law. For that, he needs sycophants who will do his bidding.

The problem? Anyone who doesn’t will be publicly shamed, “primaried” by someone of Trump’s liking from further right, and possibly removed in the mid terms!

So, country before party, party before President? Who has the balls? And, do they understand that gifting their power to Trump only serves to weaken them personally AND undermines the constitutional oath they took when they got the job?!

This may boil down to whether the women in the Republican Party are willing to let him run roughshod over them and the power they have gained for woman over the past generation.

Sadly, ‘tis true.

We have to get through the next few years to the other side and hope his more extreme stream of consciousness “ideas” never pass muster in Congress.

The absolute worst part if all of this is that Biden should be leaving Trump a Goldilocks economy, with more jobs onshoring than offshoring, interest rates being cut, inflation being tamed, and tailwinds…for which Trump will claim credit, regardless of the facts!

It’s really just one guy who claims he worked on the Obama campaign in 2012, so I’ve always suspected something happened that resulted in a desire to avenge some wrong inflicted upon him personally by Democrats. But I’ve asked “What changed?” a few times and never an gotten answer so he could be lying or on the wind up or it’s personal and he doesn’t want to explain/share or something else.
 
Agent Orange is now suing Ann Seltzer and publishing paper for the poll she issued, claiming it was poll rigging fiction.

This is just barking mad, isn't it?

Absolute fruit-bats in my opinion, but that’s where we are.
