Of course they are out of our control, nearly everything we debate on this forum is.

In my eyes you have avoided answering the question I posed. Which is a pity, I can only assume you didn't like your own conclusion.

What I would say is whether they got 10 weeks, 20 weeks or whatever, they will all live afterwards with a recorded criminal conviction which, if they were not career criminals, will fuck them over more than a few weeks porridge.

If they committed a crime, I have no sympathy

You can find threatening behaviour every Friday night at closing time in every City in the UK. Do these people get jailed for 20 mths?

So that leaves the unspecified racial slurs. In no way am I condoning them, it is a hate crime to engage in racial hatred, my point is does his above actions actually warrant 20mths in jail?

Now compare the above sentence with the behaviour of the two individuals below, who both engaged in actually physical assaults, one of which was racially motivated. These people received sentences of 4mths for assault and 3mths for racial assault.

Do you not think there is significant disparity in the sentencing in these three cases?

Both of those are for assault so it’s not comparable to violent disorder. Whether they’re fair sentences, we don’t know without seeing the judgments and how the guidelines were applied.

I don't doubt your point re foreign investment in UK politics, eg Haida and Mansour for conservative, black rock for Labour, but any tub thumping from Reform re pro Britain and autonomy should fuck right off.

Literally always been the case. Farage and his cronies (even in UKIP times) have always been quietly in favour of asset-stripping the NHS and selling it off to American-style private health providers and insurers (if not actually American). It's not really a secret. Their last manifesto had the twin policies of lowering taxes and increase funding for public services. It's the sort of promise designed to appeal to the hard of thinking. They have absolutely no interest in anything other than self-enrichment, and their funding and policies reflect this.

Yes but the youth just ‘want something different ‘ Twitter tells them we now live in an Islamic State controlled by two tier policing whilst also ‘woke’ is destroying everything.
Also Musk makes cool rockets.

So yeh , Reforms it’s gonna be.
 
I see Ben Habib has left them. He gave his reason as the structure of Reform. Basically there are very few shares in the PLC, Farage owns more than 60% and so any donation to them is effectively a personal one as he has complete control as the major shareholder. Apologies if this is mentioned further back in the thread but I haven't time to read it all.
