Just had new water bill for the coming year, must be holy water coming out of these taps now with that increase from UU, bloody ridiculous - £150 increase for the year

Shit isn't it, I've got Cheshire East asking for a 10% council tax increase to bail them out of their incompetence. We're all being taken for a ride.

2 reasons....boredom and nothing to do. You need a purpose over there or you go stir crazy. We'd done more or less what we'd planned.
We also discovered my mum was suffering with dementia as we were looking to move to France, so came back here.
Yeah that’s my concern re boredom but I’m thinking I’ll get a gardening round or work at an estate agents (have a contact there) or work behind a bar but less keen on that. You still need purpose to get up in the morning.

Sorry to hear of your Mum’s diagnosis.

My pension used to see me through the month ok but now runs out a week early. Time to cut back on the gin.
I blame Biden.

average earnings in the UK rose by ~5.5 % over the year (public sector) and ~4.9 % (private sector).

that's why things go up.

Also going up due to fucking greed, we’ve cut back on eating out now, rather get a cheaper takeaway, in fact hardly drink out unless it’s going to City now and even then it’s all Guinness zero, couple of pints on quiz night on a Wednesday that’s it. Wages are relative to costs, if they didn’t go up woukd everything cost less, I doubt it. The excuse of making up for Covid is bollocks now £6-7 a pint in town is ridiculous, holidays are becoming extortionate now I expect more and more kids going in term time as the fine is fuck all compared to the hike in prices. It seems even middle class are poor these days.

i'm the same boat.. but i do know plenty of couples in my circle both earning and getting big pay increases - when you have couples on 50-80k and getting further wage increases year on year then it simply pushes prices up.
