Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Disgraceful that. It's not even the defeat, it's the lack of fight, desire and pride from the entire team, that is simply unacceptable. I saw more effort on the pitch when the players downed tools and got smashed 8-1 to Boro.

Second goal was one of the most pathetic things I've watched.

Said at halftime they'll be no change until they score an easy second and we'll throw on wingers chasing a lost cause and that's exactly what happened. If a nobody like me can accurately predict pep, think how easy it is for opposition managers to out think him right now.

Pep continues to set us up to be wide open and easy to play against whilst simultaneously offering zero threat and we keep seeing the same thing. This cannot continue.

Forgot to add, if another player comes out with the ‘yeah we need to start performing for the fans and the club’ bollocks line again, they can get out.

Either do it then, or shut up until you do it.

That 2nd half was absolutely awful. The 1st half wasn't good, but that 2nd half was really bad.

We're too nice a team. Happy to pass it around side to side and try to keep the ball but we don't penetrate teams anymore and when the opposition have it, we don't attack them, we just stand off and let them play through balls behind the defence. The 2nd goal a perfect example of just letting them run through untouched. Rodri would've stuck his foot in and took a booking for the team if needed but none of these lot are willing to do it or work hard enough.

We simply have to buy in January. 2 or 3 players are needed minimum. The midfield especially is crying out for some physicality and creativity.

Something Better Change...and soon.

Funny how a team managed by the highest paid manager in the world can come out for the second half looking even more bereft of energy, tactics and desire than they did sloping off at half time.

Must drop Gundy, Bernie, Rico, Haaland, Walker end of
I maybe repeating myself but I’d add Gvardiol to that list. I hate having a go about our players but they aren’t playing well and must be taken out of the spotlight to get some confidence back. Guardiola has to do something radical too like change tactics because these tactics aren’t stopping this rot.

He's one of the most successful managers ever using his principles of play.
If he changes then we should sack him
His principles are fine but he’s not using the correct personnel.
Put some kids in in their correct positions instead of square pegs in round holes.
Lewis stepping into midfield is a disaster, he can’t tackle and can’t pass it well enough. Spends his time hiding behind their midfield players.

Anyway nothing else to add. Be glad when the season is over.

No pace. No press. No leaders. No fight.

The next 3 games (Everton, Leicester & West Ham) are all, on paper, very winnable. However the game is played on grass, and not paper !

If we don't pick up at least 7 points from the possible 9 I suspect the patience being shown by most Blues up until now will start to be tested.

Merry Fkn Xmas Blues [emoji318]

An absolute shocker of a performance. The second half was easily the worst of this run.

Outplayed is one thing but outfought is just completely unnaceptable.

The tactics are complete madness too currently.

MOM - The fans for getting behind them when there was absolutely nothing to get excited about.

A shocker of a day this one.

I can’t see where the next win comes from to be honest we are that bad.

It’s insane the drop off, something that has never been witnessed before.

Management needs to have a list of names to hunt down and kidnap if needed for January. We need reinforcements ASAP.

And stop acting like Pep is on the verge of being fired or quitting. The club has stood by him all the way, he's on great terms with Khaldoon, they'll give him the cash and opportunity to fix things.

If it doesn't work after that, they'll discuss mutual parting more than likely, but you don't just dump the clubs most successful manager the year after he won the 4th PL in a row because you're on bad form with a thin squad. Yes, he takes some of the blame for recruitment, but we arent some shitty midtable Championship team looking for a new manager bump.

We can't drop anyone until the injuries subside. No real sign of that happening. Any signings at this point will be squad fillers which adds its own problems of bedding in and the danger of them making the same mistakes as the current set of players. If the players had totally given up they wouldn't have scored that last minute consolation.

I’d say this 80 percent on the players and 20 percent on pep

At the end of the day the players are on the pitch. I said this after the united game. I don’t mind losing, what I do mind is a lack of effort, heart and overall grit. Right now many of the older players look like they’ve given up. Pep can’t make them not play like shit. He could however just stick them to the bench and play some of the kids. But at the end of the day it’s on the players to show up

Who would have thought Pep would take us on our worst run of form in 18 years
