I never thought I'd feel sorry for a multi millionaire footballer, but I really do feel for this lad.

The most potent striker in European football for many years, left waiting to pick up scraps from terminally slow and predictable play.

The lad should be playing in a quick, counter-attacking system, tailor-made for him, getting 50-60 goals a season.

It's sad to watch him playing now. He looks absolutely pissed off at City.

Unfortunately I go to every single game Inc Europe ,and that's my opinion of the lad .
Sorry mate not a happy clapper ,,more than willing to praise and critise as I see it .

Happy clappers is a phrase created by posters who wish to introduce a negative element into a conversation and do so without providing a useful analysis or comment as far as I observe.

Very few of the now established and usual suspects come on the forum to offer praise when their usual subjects of criticism play well or really add to the team performance etc.

So not arsed if you consider me a happy clapper, but I do care about the team and players, none of whom set out to play in a manner which is " not arsed, couldn't give a fuck, usual dismissive comments.

I'll clap on, and rely on the players to try and do their best, in a professional manner, and with the correct intentions.

Imagine how many he would score when he played us?

Under any other manager, Haaland would be scoring 50 every season.
Before the Qatar World Cup, City were just learning how to use him. Every game it seemed he'd be coming off the pitch disappointed at only having scored a couple.
KDB and others were popping balls into dangerous areas - not just to feet - saying 'go on then, what can you do with that?' And more often than not, he'd show them. There was a feeling of inevitability about it - the only question was whether it would be another hat-trick.
Since Qatar, City have never gone back to that style. A static Erling, surrounded by defenders, is no more difficult to mark than I am. It nullifies all his attributes, and sadly seems to be wearing away all the natural instincts that made him what he is (was?).
Remember that first glaring miss in the Charity Shield, when everybody was saying that Nunez was the better buy (after 1 game!?)? Watch it again and look at the true striker's instinct EH used to actually get into that position. Picked up 2 yards on the defenders in less than a second - could you really see him doing that today?
The other coaches can't believe their luck that nobody on the staff has bothered to look at old footage to see what they used to do differently.
As for the lad himself - rarely have I been so impressed by an attitude. Most Prima Donnas would have thrown their toys out by now, but he just keeps on trying.

And why not leave him up for corners? That would take 2 opposition defenders out of our box at a stroke. Hoof it up and see what he could do. Change the dynamic immediately.

I despair, seeing such a weapon under-utilised.

And when you do make a analysis or comment you get called a "Rag" or "dipper" the minute you make a criticism

Praise and criticism are both part of football and both can exist

Also because you are being "negative" doesn't also mean you don't support the team

I'll watch every game and support us to win but not gonna just smile and say oh well when this team of winners and millionaires get battered by teams inferior to us and who put in double the effort we are

Aguero 14/15

Haaland 24/25

A little trivia and comparison, in addition to the desperate season of the entire team, from defense to attack, I think that Haaland, even with all the lack of help from his teammates, could match Aguero's best season in Man City.

Aguero 2014/15 after 17 rounds = 14 goals

Haaland 2024/25 after 17 rounds = 13 goals

I'm not sure he could - Haaland's goals all came from Chelsea to Arsenal - since our drop off, he's scored 3 in 12.

Aguero had a much better spread of goals. Haaland has scored 3 since September.

90 minutes every game, that certainly doesn't help.

At no point did I say you were a happy clapper mate
My understanding of a happy clapper is someone who can see no wrong in anything city do ,and ,can see no wrong in any players ,
To me providing you praise when something good happens you are entitled to moan when something negative happens for balance .

Yes he did ,tbf he made a lot of goals for himself ,when Pep first came he was for getting rid of aguero ,but after the restaurant meeting he stayed and altered his game to work harder and get more involved
Haaland is still young he's years of learning to come. My prick comment was harsh, my apologies but calling the man Bob Taylor is very disrespectful lol.

that comment for Arteta of staying humble. will be honest we need to visit Arsenal at the Emirates and chances are Gabriel and Saliba will be making fun of him. could see Gabriel laughing in his face too if we lose. unfortuntely thats how it is, you give it out, you have to able to take it too.

end of the day he need to work harder, press and run more, trouble defenders with his off the ball movement. also service needs to be regular towards him, and for some reason Grealish, Bernardo, Foden are all allergic to set up chances for Haaland. they really are.

I respect him hugely for trying to take accountability for his poor form but I simply disagree. The deal with Haaland is that if you put him in a team that functions well and creates loads of chances he will score you more goals than pretty much anyone else in the world could. The rest of the team just isn't living up to their end of the bargin at the moment. Not nearly enough chances.

As for workrate, I suspect it is related to Pep's instructions, because all of a sudden we have found ourselves in a position where one injury to Haaland would leave us completely strikerless. It's fucking laughable that at one point we were thinking 'Yeah McAtee could play at false nine so we're OK'.

Aguero was a better all-round footballer.

It's unbelievable, looking back, just how good Aguero was. He was an absolute machine. The best City striker I have ever seen and it's not likely that I will ever change my mind again.

That said I don't think Haaland's all-round game is anywhere near as bad as people tend to believe. I think his passing and dribbling and positional play is pretty good to be honest. For me, his poor form at the moment is much more a symptom of our dysfunctional team.

True. Haaland looks like a square peg in a round hole at City this season, and it's definitely not his fault.

I doubt he'll ever be as good a player as Aguero, but his lasting legend will be built on his amazing scoring ability. Unfortunately for us, it will most likely be cemented at Real Madrid.

Poor lad hasn’t had one single ball to run onto like Villa did for their first goal yesterday, if KDB isn’t on the pitch then we just have to play on the counter and get balls through to him. Yesterday him and Foden were asking for the ball over the top from Akanji and Stones but they just cycled it out to Grealish, every fucking time on instructions from Pep, just vary it because its predictable and shite.
