How can any fan see that tweet and not come to the conclusion that the club are trying to change the colours we play in?

Genuine question. If we play in the CWC and do not wear a sky blue shirt for any game, how would you feel?

Obviously every true City fan is thankful to Sheik Mansour. Loads of us (check my post history if you can be arsed) have been VERY vocal on fan issues throughout our successful years. The people running our club (notably Soriano) get an awful lot wrong. It's our duty as the lifeblood of the club to ensure it's traditions (like playing in Sky Blue) are kept. The worst type of fan is someone who passively sits by and lets temporary custodians bastardise the club our families have supported for generations because we win a few trophies now.

If fans let this one go it won't stop here...

Fans were furious about that at the time!

Also, in that exact game we left a forward on the bench and put David James up front. We were a tinpot outfit back then and idiotic decisions like playing in an away kit at home were par for the course.

We have a right as the real custodians of the club to demand better. Our colour is sky blue. There is no need to move away from our historic colours (other than chasing quick money at the expense of our history and traditions).

Garbage. Wtf would any intelligent business person (which they very much are) just decide to completely rebrand our legendary shirt colour for no reason what so ever? It'd cost millions, not return that much revenue and piss the entire fan base, probably globally, off. If they do it I'll hold my hands up, but I think y'all are overreacting big time

I really hope you’re right. My take is that they’re saying, for that competition, we’re fucking off sky blue and going with two new colours!!

I think fans would boot off big time if that were true.

This is a marketing team's wet dream. Sadly they are being indulged too much by the higher echelons within the club.
To be honest, even being 4 hours away from the first game in Philadelphia, I think my physical participation in this tournament won't even get me as far as the end of my street. The TV is the most likely location for watching it.

Mansour will have absolutely no involvement in anything at City.

At a guess, he will probably have quarterly formal meetings with Khaldoon to get info on how the club is doing with maybe the odd phone call in between, and annual informal meetings with Pep. His staff will inform him of how his shares are looking and he’ll maybe watch the odd game on tele if he’s free.

That will be the top and bottom of it.

City are probably well down in his list of business ventures and political work.

But CFG Marketing, with its head office in London (lol) will get away with it (again) because there’s too many apologists burying their head in the sand who think the club can do no wrong.

They’re stripping us of our identity right infront of our very eyes.

Puma pays us something in the region of 75m a year, they don't do that for fun.

They have to justify that outlay and we are in no position to say no to what they want.

This whole club world cup is a marketing man's ultimate dream and for me is utter bollocks, but it's going to bring in a minimum 50m into the club and with the rebuild we need and almost certainly no CL next season I am more than happy to take what we can.

It just baffles me why anyone involved would want us not to wear sky blue in this supposed premier club football competition? What is the actual benefit of us wearing peach and black and not blue?

CFG are trying to make us the world’s premier sky blue football & sports brand, why the fuck would they not want us in sky blue on the world’s biggest stage?

We did the same thing in our first season in the CL.

Our colours are Sky blue/white, yet we changed to all sky blue, for me they are and never will be our home colours.

If you feel strongly about it I'd suggest sending a City Matters rep an email on it. It's much easier to raise these issues with the club when we are contacted rather than trying to position it as "some people on Bluemoon are unhappy". I'll be very happy to take it up;

In fairness we don't know that we won't wear sky blue at any point. That's an assumption based on a loose tweet, and then people are taking it to the far end of 'stripping identity'.

I want to see us in our recognisable colours, and I think inventing anything more than one kit just for the competition devalues an already hard to grasp tournament.

But some (Some) of the panic and reaction seems a bit OTT or at least premature.

It's a reflection of a lack of confidence the local support has in the management, I think (not meaning football management). And it's their own fault. I doubt they care.
