Has there even been any rumours of him to us lately and if so where the hell do they even come from? It's ridiculous at the tail end of his career regardless of our form.
Pep was clearly pissed off with Messi for wasting our time a few years back so we moved on from that fiasco, the package we offered when he ultimately decided to stay at Barca it dwarfed PSG's which he happily accepted a year later, if we really wanted him we'd have matched the terms PSG put forward right then with no problem.
We'd already moved on though and chosen to sign Jack Grealish (whether you believe that was right or wrong) while Messi even out of contract was totally ignored, he'd never admit it Pep but personally I reckon he felt embarrassed by Messi's backtracking and wanted nowt to do with him at that time.
I believe we only went for him the previous year because he'd said he's leaving Barca that very summer and only wanted us, before he then reneged on any handshake agreement with us/Pep which left everybody at the club really pissed off with him, despite that I don't think anybody would've been able to overrule Pep (for the sake of his own happiness) if really wanted Messi at the point he left Barca.
Him joining us now is never going happening and if it was gonna happen it definitely would've happened when he left Barca, had we wanted him at that point in time then PSG wouldn't have stood a chance of signing him not in the slightest.

I've been on every Messi train there has been for about 15 years. But even I couldn't get on this one.
The opposite of what we need right now. We need legs, energy, somebody willing to work hard. No point getting a genius on the ball when we're terrible at getting him into positions that affect the game.
2021 was the chance. I'll forever be fucking wounded that didn't happen. The best player ever handing in a transfer request at the club he's adored at to try and force a move through and come to little old City. What a time.
