I feel for the lad.
So do I, but that's not proof he'd be the answer to current form.

For those complaining about Pep bringing on a CB on Thursday ahead of him, Ake isn't fully fit and Pep said to him to let him know if he was fatigued, he did, so SP came on, did anyone think McAtee would be a good replacement for Ake ?

Pep is brilliant at many things but his management of Palmer and now McAtee has been little short of a disgrace.
His management of Palmer was 2 years ago, in a treble winning season (remember that ?), who was he replacing in that team realistically (even from the bench - though he did quite a bit) ?

Palmer subsequently decided he wanted to move on, Pep wanted him to stay, and while he's done pretty well at chelsea, he can sometimes by anonymous, so I'm still to be convinced he will be a super star, I hope he does become that, but at City, he largely failed to impress for me, much as McAtee has.

The lad has experience of fighting in a relegation season in this league-seems Pep has seen some reason not to trust him,who knows but for me he should at least get gametime or sell him to Leverkusen or the like and wonder in 2/3 years time why

Lewis has been decent.
Not sure why you added him to that list.
Lewis decision making on the pitch makes up for his physical shortcomings.
The first time I watched Mcateer play, I knew he wouldn’t make it in the team simply because of his decision making. He’s very talented but plays for himself most of the time.
Decent ? well I disagree to say the very least.

We do. We tried resting Gundogan against Feyenoord, with atrocious consequences.
Again the collapse was not because of the subs, we were in total control well after the subs were made and Feyenoord were content with a 3-0 loss until Gvardiol made two mistakes to get them back into the game.

The FA cup game will be on soon.
Watch his performance in the game without any bias and you will understand why Pep prefers to play a 50 year old Gundogan than Jamie.
Well of course, he'll play his first game in months and if he's not brilliant then that will prove Pep right and we won't see him again, it's obvious that's what a lot of people here are wishing for.

We’d never have conceded 3 before the subs.

Playing Nunes and McAtee in the middle made our midfield invisible.

It’s no coincidence that McAtee hasn’t featured since.

Nobody here is ever wishing that, but if he gets a game and struggles against Salford, it's not doing him any favours is it ?

Actually we could've easily conceded 3 before the subs if Gvardiol is passing it straight to the opposition, our midfield wasn't invisible, like I said we were in total control before Gvardiol's brainfarts, you can keep blaming McAtee and Nunes all you want but they weren't to blame for that, and yes he hasn't featured since and guess what ? the midfield is still absolute shite and getting run over and we are still making stupid mistakes leading to goals.

Are you really resorting to facts?

Don’t want to make the same mistake as Palmer, this lad has talent give him a few games pep if he’s good enough he’s old enough.

Well getting destroyed by a rubbish Spurs team didn't scar Pep apparently, he still trusts the same players that played that game, oh and the main reason for that Feyenoord collapse is still getting picked.
Pep just wants to find a reason to not pick the players he personally does not like. Of course as the manager he is entitled to it. But he must be held responsible for the result as well when he picks his favorites. BM acted like everything on the players not the manager it is laughable.

And apparently according to BM we must trust the very coach team and sporting director who chose Doku over Palmer, 34 years old Gundogan over McAtee, Lewis over Porro, Kalvin Philips over Lavia and Eric García over Harwood-Bellis to handle the rebuild. Good luck!
