Leicester City (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I’ve been saying this for awhile, but no-one seems to know anything?!
It’s bloody weird, I guess we have all been there when we can’t concentrate on work because something else is going on, I know have. Phil seems completely tuned out.

It just shows what a difference a little luck can make….not conceding to the oppositions first attack or shot on goal as we have done on so many occasions this season.

A long way from being a perfect performance and we did look vulnerable up until we got the second however let’s take the positives.

Savio looked a player today and Kovacic and Bernardo gave us a little more energy in the middle plus Haaland had his best game for a month but for me McAtee changed the game for City when he came on, slowing the tempo when required and great movement to help set up the second goal.

I just hope now that Pep starts to trust McAtee more and doesn’t just stick him out wide…..he can do the job that an out of form Gundogan isn’t doing at the moment or even instead of De Bruyne or Foden.

We were never going to going to transition back to our previous high levels in just one game but this will certainly do the confidence no harm.

It seems as though we are going to be busy In January in the transfer market to give the squad that much required energy and maybe creativity….so I think we are allowed some optimism that we’ve hit rock bottom and the only way is up.
Macatee deserves 60 minutes. As for Foden, He needs to catch a wake up.
He didn't put a foot wrong today, and my feeling until he came on, was that we'd end up losing eventually, as they were all over us, but he changed the game, because he's not been part of this shit run, he had confidence in his ability, and took the ball to drive towards the winning goal.

Did a lot of other stuff that can be applauded, like the defensive work that Phil couldn't be arsed, or is too knackered to do.
Ain't that the truth.

Not sure we’ve turned the corner. More like we’ve got a little confidence boost which may just lead to us starting to turn the corner

All that was different today was that we took our chances and we had good luck instead of the usual bad luck

On another day they could have scored 4 or 5

But it’s a great feeling to get home from a match and not be in a shitty mood and our away fans were just superb as usual

We weren’t perfect today or at the levels we have seen previously but today and Everton were both steps in the right direction.

Savinho has stepped up these last two matches, we have kept a clean sheet, Haaland looked a lot more determined today and our fans were fantastic.

Nothing is going to change over night, the same problems exist but today was a good day.

He was involved in the build up to Haaland's goal but I thought he was a passenger for much of the game and I'd go so far as to say that he is a major part of our weakness out of possession.

I would be tempted to start Mcatee in KDB's role.
He was involved in both goals and also set Haaland up for that shot before we scored, he is too important currently. If he should start for anyone, it’s Foden.
They were pretty much hammering us until the sub was made, we'd have lost had it not been made, hadn't had a single touch in their box in the second half before the sub.
The second half was absolutely woeful, not for the first time in recent weeks, until the sub was made.

You have definitely increased your activity on here since we turned to shit. I expect a part of you quite enjoys it.
Nope wrong again....

Im amazed at how wrong people can be at times I really am.

The probable reason is that I answer more replies to posts as posts that are about the teams performances (ie poor at present) are just not liked by some no matter how much truth is in them....
Conversely, when we are winning all the time and we are playing well my posts go unnoticed as they are pretty much agreeing with everyone else's about how well we are playing.

But i end up having to post stuff lke this to replies like this and to the other posters just cause some people cant handle negative talk about the team even when its accurate.

Phil looks completely preoccupied with something else. Just hope he can get sorted out.
There were rumours about his personal life not being all rosey before the start of the season..ther was nothing specific ....just rumours....so that would make sense.

Crawled to a win but at least we may now have a chance to get a couple in before the a hard run of fixtures come along end Jan/ Feb.

McAtee could now be given a chance and this would let Phil concentrate on sorting whatever is is that is on his mind. There must be something.

Think youare mostly right but I think we seemed a little more proactive in going forward today.....attacking wise for me it seemed a slight improvement.

The midfield ad defensive issues are still galringly obvious however and you are right...they could and should have scored a few at least.

win was great, but our performance was brutal shit out of possession. Leicester were able to keep coming and have chances after chances. its like our back 4 wasnt even there. crosses were not blocked by Lewiss and Gvardiol, who did Ake and Akanji mark when they had all those header chances some from pretty close range.., midfield again stopped nothing and Leicester players were able to bypass them with ease. bit better finish from them and we lose this 3-2 or draw 2-2. and this is a side that is likely going to go down and in poor form recently. top half sides will continue to punish us and we have about 9-10 games vs them left second half of the season if we dont improve a lot very quickly.

Pep needs to stop this rot, fitness wise something is fucked up big time, and not sure what is the solution to that. no way we will all of a sudden look fresh and proper fit next few months. this is sometime that would need a long long summer break followed by a proper pre-season where focus is on the fitness of the players built for a long season and not the fucking merchandising games all over the world with lots of travel around Asia and US tours. but thats already fucked with the CWC commitment which can take these tired players into mid June to finish the season and then again a pre season thats too short and not ideal but in this case for the whole squad not the the ones selected for Euros etc. add in some big money friendly tour hopefully in a place where there is monsoon or very bad weather some game postponed as it always is recent seasons.

I mentioned his name on bbc website. Apparently my interpretation of his name was not up to their woke standards.
I seem to have got away so far but I made sure not to mention his Dads name Poke Mashiter or his mums name Sniff Mashiter :-)

2 Manchester trains cancelled. You'll get a decent refund for being over an hour late. Bet it's crowded though!
