Who joins us in January?

I've not been on this subforum for a while, what has been the gossip? Anyone we linked with, any expectations?

I would be surprised if we signed any more than 1 player, and even that I wouldn't bet on. But then it IS Txiki's last transfer window here so who the hell knows, he might lump it all on the table and go out with a bang.
David Ornstein has said City are doing a lot of work behind the scenes. The emphasis seems to be on confidentiality.

Hopefully McFarland a LWB for the EDS, only a fit Ake would keep him out. Echeverri for the EDS a CAM top quality but needs to adjust. Bobb a LW CAM RW back into the squad. just looking at the team against Leicester we need 2 DM`s, Zackaria as Rodri`s back up and Ederson as Kovacic`s back up, if he does not want to come Baleba is also decent quick and strong.
Players to gazump should we need to before the summer,
Trafford, Tottenham his reasons for leaving may not be there anymore.
Kerkez, liverpool
Branthwate, utd, Everton got better when he returned.
And Evan Ferguson who maybe available on loan, would make a very interesting 4, 4, 2

The lack of athleticism, energy, physicality, control, recovery pace etc in our midfield is one of the key reasons we have been dogshit. The bodies are either fatigued or aren't up to it anymore - it needs addressing first & foremost, while also getting a defender.
That will be resolved in the summer. A midfield signing in January will not stop us being vunerable on the counter attack.

Our lack of midfield is what’s hurting our defence.
Our lack of finishing more than anything. Take our chances and we take some of the pressure off the rest. Signing a defender would be more beneficial at this stage especially with Ake's dodgy hamstrings.

Nico would probably be better long-term playing with Rodri. Varela would probably be better for just now with our OOP issues.

Porto won't cut their own throats mid way through the season. That is the issue. Both are brilliant suggestions for when Hugo Viana's targets when he is officially appointed

Valera 100 percent has a release clause. That's what City are after . Quick transactions at the start of the window . He's perfect aswel . Seems a no brainer .

It is of course just the way we see it, but my view is a mobile DM if not 2, does stop us being vulnerable, it also helps with the attack. If you take Leicester for example, they compositely dominated the midfield in the 2nd half, despite being completely shit. pretty sure our tackle rate is the lowest in the league. If we do not buy at least 1 DM in January we will not be in the CL, we may not even be in Europe as our midfield is burnt out.

Still got the depth to ride things out until the summer. It is the defence that we have the real injury concerns.

Didn't activate Bruno G's. That was meant to be a quick transaction.

No we have not got the depth, we only had 1 DM and he is out till the summer, Kovacic and Bernardo are doing the best they can, but still got overrun by a shitty relegation side, Will Hughes and Tielemans dominated our midfield. Our defense will get better if it can rely on some protection in front of them.

What relevance is that?
The Release Clause.
So what is the issue: we won't pay the RC or Porto won't sell him?
Both and the player would not want to move just yet either. Similar with Zubimendi (although he is carrying a back injury). Porto are in a middle of the title race and are on course for the latter stages of the Champions League. They aren't going to further weaken themselves at this stage and they aren't going to do us any favours either seeing we have poached their DoF.

The Release Clause.

Both.
So we didn't decide to sign one player for 100m 6mths ago, so that means we will never sign a player ever again. Cheers Ray, I guess we just wait for the current squad to die off and then Man City cease to exist.
