Firstly he didn't take you from the gutter. You had 6 seasons outside the top 4 finishing 5th-8th for fuck sake. He cleared out the shite, spent a fortune on a better squad and surprise surprise you were back competing for the title.

But the critical thing is you didn't win it and things turn quickly.

You only have to look at the fucking meltdown on here now we're not challenging!

He needs to win a trophy, a proper one, to buy some more time but this season you should have been winning the league with our decline. The dippers have been impressive, but you should have been closer than you are. There will be an immense amount of pressure on him come the new season if you still haven't won anything.

Indeed in a league of zero contenders you’ve fucked up and bottled it before even opening the bottle.

There was a film on Talking Pictures channel yesterday afternoon.
It was called - The Arsenal Stadium Mystery.(1939).
The current mystery is how have this lot not won The Premier League for over 20 years

I missed this the other day but am absolutely baffled by it. Surely this sort of stuff happens after they actually win the title?

Spending £500m on holding midfielders and centrebacks that can play full back but just not as well as actual fullbacks and only £100m on forwards has ruined the balance of this team and that’s all on Arteta.

Way too much reliance on Odegard and Saka while Martinelli has gone backwards to the extent I’d rather see us give a promising academy winger a go over him, in fact the only reason I think he plays is because he's the only winger who prefers tracking back than going forward

City falling off a cliff was the worst thing that could have happened to Arsenal.

They had our brilliance to hide behind whilst we swept up title after title. They had somebody to push all the blame towards "boohoo city are just too good. We can't compete with cheats" their brain damaged fanbase could get behind that collective narrative. That's why they have a level of hatred towards us that we just find very weird and bemusing because it's not anywhere close to being reciprocated by us.

They've all bought into this City have screwed us mentality in an attempt to avoid accepting they are the biggest bottlejobs there's been in premier league history and it is on them.

This season though, there's no city to hide behind. There's no feeble excuse for not winning the league, they're struggling to find a common hate figure to lay the blame on, they'll have to accept that the blame lies within.

Arteta couldn't be successful in copying Pep, his only original ideas were to become the £800m Stoke, that's failed to deliver for them and now with us not winning the title this year, they're going to have to start asking the right questions for the first time. Arteta won't get another £200m summer window to get himself a billion pound Stoke squad without a meaningful trophy in his locker first.

Apart from the mickeys no one will give a fuck almost a covid 2.0 season which will unfortunately spell bad news for the rags as sky will need to big up the season.
If they don’t get their shit together they will be the daily headlines not the boring dipper title win 3 months early.
