Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

On Boxing Day there must have been almost five minutes from the referee awarding the penalty to Haaland eventually missing it. Pickford was literally using every time wasting trick in the book and it worked.

Three days later Ortega gets a yellow card. It was deserved but Christ it smacks of inconsistency.
Either that or City need to study at shithousery college because we're hopeless at time wasting

Don’t really think that’s a fair comparison. I’ve not watched it back. But don’t recall Pickford fanning about much once the referee had given the go ahead for Haaland to crack on. Anything before that isn’t down to him.

Most of the hold up was VAR, the usual getting everyone out of the area and then Coleman trying to put Haaland off. Which he was booked for.

You say ortega,s card was deserved. From the ball being thrown back to him by the ball boy, it was 12 seconds before you hear the ref whistle to book him. When we are chasing a game, you will never see an opposition keeper booked so quickly. No way it was deserved.

Keepers against us regularly hold on to the ball for 15-20 seconds despite the six second law existing. So refs don’t enforce that law nor do they book the keeper.

Should have booked De Bruyne for diving. Cheating bugger, absolutely hate it when our players do that. I hate it more when our players cheat than when opposition players do.
I’m an advocate for players being given a retrospective yellow for it and would welcome it for De Bruyne there.

Could easily have not booked Ortega for time wasting. How often are opposition keepers booked for doing it against City?

Thought ref was shit today Salisbury (lanky streak of piss) that’s. Coming from one!! Booked Hammers player early, then let them get after!! Then again seemed like any foul from us and we are in the book!! Walker was only on for a few seconds ( hardly a foul too!) can’t be a totting up one! Apart from the goals biggest cheer was when he gave us a free kick in the second half!! When we get these charges dropped against us we might be able to grow a pair and give the refs a roasting for there performances against us!!!

Very inconsistent from Salisbury, and wrapping arms round a player and wrestling him to the ground is apparently fine. Two very obvious if accidental handballs from West Ham players allowed but as soon as it hits Kev’s arm it’s a free kick. But we got away with one when Akanji was caught in possession, really didn’t think that was a foul

Not just me and a qualified ref next to me and numerous others think we had a lucky escape first half when Summerville broke clear and it got pulled back!! I despair what I hear sometimes and it filters down to grassroot levels and they may ref on their own no help no assistants just them on their OWN in the middle. Not nice.

If the referee decides that there has been sufficient mind games to put the penalty taker off then it should be treated as encroachment and the penalty retaken if missed.

Thought the linesman that saw Savinho`s cross, go out for a goal kick, from the other side of the pitch was brilliant, the goal posts getting out of the way for him was great as well. pity he did not let VAR decide, like he should have. We kept up the 1 booking every 4 fouls, not sure of the opposition 1 booking for 13 fouls, even though that type of foul on the goalkeeper, is an automatic card.

I noticed something very weird at the game yesterday.

At one point West Ham had a throw in and player tried to steal 5 yards. Referee immediately gestured to player he had to throw it backwards. Hadn’t seen that before.

I think he was telling him to go back and take the throw from the right place but then let him get away with it regardless.

That’s what I initially thought but he just stuck his hand out to point right and then allowed it so it looked like a direction.

The thing that got me when Coleman was into Haalands ear was that none of our players went to confront Coleman whilst he was doing it. I cant imagine any top sides players allowing that to go on for so long, with a player that has previous for this type of mouthing off, without getting involved. Instead our players left Haaland on his own.

That’s been a City trait for too long..thank fuck for the brief period Andy Morrison turned it around.
