EFL Cup | Semi-Finals | 7/8 Jan & 5/6 Feb '25

Unlikely we'll miss as many chances as we did again tonight- plus Rags are a worse team than Newcastle.

Suspect it'll be a 4-0 Arsenal or something like that. I wouldn't mind if we sacked off the FA Cup as I don't rate the trophy however it's probably the only thing we can win this season.
I bloody hope City don’t sack it off, it is our only chance of silverware this season.

I’ll always ‘rate the trophy’! Jesus.

TBH I didn't view the EPL as a major trophy so if we turn this around and win the trophy I don't think it gets Arteta off the hook. He needs to win the PL or CL - even the FA Cup is a bit 'meh'.

That being said without a major turnaround we won't win the PL. The CL is a bit of a lottery but I don't see us troubling the better defences to win that. So is Arteta on borrowed time? Well the pressure will ramp for sure. He'll get next season for sure as he's transformed the club but at some stage the hierarchy will be wondering if he's the guy to get us across the line. Thing is if he goes who else can we get in who is better? Pep won't come to Arsenal. What's the alternative?
Never give up hope, every cup is worth something to someone. I’ve loved every single one of ours, even the Joan Gamper.

Newcastle has 4 players I like.. Hall, Livramento, Tonali and Isak..
their first squad isn’t weaker than Arsenal‘s. They just need a better bench.

How can you not rate the FA Cup, oldest association football comp in the world?

I love the FA Cup, love the early rounds, that its on tv, that theres always a story somewhere each yr in it..

Hated HATED Pep turning up to the FA Cup final 22/23 in a fucking sweater but turns up for a CL early round in a suit everytime.

Enjoyed that. Not sure arsenal fans did though, half empty with 15 minutes left...

Thought Howe went too defensive too soon and felt there was a killer third in it for them but fair play, he called it right, they looked solid and rarely stretched. Don't think arsenal had a shot on target all game. They're useless without their set pieces, even Stoke had more of a threat from open play. Delightful to see that snide Arteta constantly looking at his watch as if hes ever intimidating anybody. You reap what you sow you horrible twat. Was some booing at the end but barely audible as there was more newcastle fans in the ground celebrating by the whistle. Won't be long before the boo's ring loudly for the £800m Stoke.
They’re crying out for a striker!!

Well the Mysteron must’ve viewed it as a major trophy, given the team he put out?

Well if you want to continue in the true Arsenal style, Pulis and Fat Sam are available and maybe even Sean in a day or so.

Remember when Pellegrini turned up to the Wigan home FA Cup tie in a hoodie and they knocked us out, fuck me that was a bad day

IIRC they were flying off to Abu Dhabi that night straight from the game for a winter warm weather camp which completely backfired that day, Pellers was dressed like he was ready for a snooze on the plane (tbf he gave off that demeanour most of the time)

I love watching teams defend for their lives and throw bodies on the line blocking everything when in the lead, it should be a part of a game to be applauded rather than frowned upon.
Fans of top teams whine about it all the time. I never could wrap my head around such whining.

Like the other team is supposed to make it easier to beat them.

FFS, nor every team is West Ham :p

Falling at the first hurdle again, seems we have another spursy, here’s to the new arses.
