Most of the Sports Science stuff I have read think there is also a considerable genetic element to how high your potential ceiling is on things like dribbling which require very high degrees of neuromuscular coordination, balance and eye foot coordination.

Clearly there is an element of practice/ environment as well but the narrative that was being pushed by the likes of Syed 10-15 yrs ago that it is virtually all practice is probably not true.

Syed was always derivative - his books were interesting but basically always built on stuff by Gladwell etc. I always viewed the 10,000 hours idea as a means of getting the most out of natural abilities - with the idea that guided practice & opportunity would get people to a good level in an area, but acknowledging that individual traits would set people apart. You can train to be a sprinter and improve all the time but still be beaten by someone else who trains and has more fast twitch muscle fibers etc.

Likewise Gladwell’s trick was plucking stuff out of obscure academic papers and presenting them as digestible narratives with broad appeal..

I’d never sell the really special ones I’ve got - all French, all long sleeve, all originals. I did sell the one City top I had that was worth a few quid. Got 700

Really?? First time in Europe/England summer of 1982. Bought the City kit. Has a great badge and at that time no advertising. It’s in superb condition. How much do you reckon its worth??

Yes, exposing yourself in public where there are plenty of cameras is the work of someone with a brain.

Getting caught pissing in public, the same.

Cheating on your Mrs and fathering kids with another woman and expecting it all not to come out…

The guy is literally the definition of brain dead.

Great player for us over the years though.

Albert Einstein did 2 of those 3 things.

I'll let the physics world know that he was actually a very stupid person.

Pablo Zabaleta :)
He was absolutely nowhere near as good as Walker. The year when we won the league for the first time, Richards performed at a far better level than Zabba ever did. It was injuries that did for Richards.
Walker has easily been the best right back of the Premier League era and he has been absolutely fantastic for us.

Yep. Think only one thousand of those white away shirts were made and sold. Mine was in mint condition with all decals etc. I had no particular affinity to the top so it was a no-brainer for me.

Richards was a poor man’s Walker, Zabba was levels ahead of him as a footballer. Link play, touch, passing and crossing. Zabba properly established himself towards the end of that season and was soon recognised as the best right back in the country.

Zabba was never the best right back in the country. Even when he was at his peak, Walker at Spurs and Ivanovic at Chelsea were better.
Looking at the PFA teams of the year. Zabba gets in it once. Hes a legend of the club and an absolute warrior. But that does not make him the best right back in the country.
