Brentford (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

We’re much better going forward in the last few matches but out of possession we’re a mess. Kovacic was tiring but Gundogan has really struggled of late. Reminded me of the West Ham performance in that once Gundogan and Walker came in. We miss Dias so badly, Akanji is ok defending our wide but isn’t strong enough in the box. Until we sort our midfield out we out going to be vulnerable, especially with upcoming matches against the likes of PSG, Chelsea and Arsenal.

On the plus side it was good to see Foden and KDB on form. Savinho was very good at times but his decision making needs to improve.

Fair result. Missed chances cost us again, but Brentford more than deserved a point. Thought we were absolutely terrible after scoring the first, 2nd came against the run of play and then we switched off thinking it was done.

Two awful pieces of defensive play from the left side. Thank goodness Ake was switched on or it would have been another total collapse.

Overall play was much better , not a high bar we've set recently but better. Thought Haalands hold up play from Ortega was superb. Got to score that header though.

Still desperately need some midfielders. It's where most of the issues are coming, no control and the defenders being overrun.

The already insufferable McAtee fanclub (already pretty much as bad as the Palmer one) got what they were constantly wailing for with Pep bringing him on to supposedly "control the game"

He then proceeded to miss a sitter just before Brentford equalise.

He was a like for like sub with Foden - he wasn’t on to control the game, in the same way Phil doesn’t control the game.

When he missed the sitter (which he should have scored), our 34 year old, legless, no 6 was ahead of him in the box. Why on earth was that happening?

I bow down to Peps superior football knowledge, but we could all see that we were blowing out of our arses on the hour. We did get a goal around that time, which covered up our problems. Kovacic was left exposed time and again and needed someone to help him out and just sit.
Anyway on a plus side, thought we looked more like it tonight and Nunes played well at full back although why didn't he shoot?
He's fucking garbage mate, an absolute waste of 53m

They have lost 4 straight at home and can’t buy a win away. We absolutely shit the bed yet again
Mate, they beat Southampton 5.0 away drew at Brighton beat Newcastle at home and we are fighting our way back to form, we don't have a divine right to anything and are no where near at top form.
I thought we played well but are still in need of new players to freshen up the squad.
Each to there own.

We played really well in patches but we need quality players who can run in the middle of the park. Despite lacking legs we produced some wonderful football capped off by Foden’s gorgeous feathered finish for the first

Savinho is a star in the making, another feather in Txiki’s cap

More positives than negatives to be taken from a tricky away game. We’re emerging from our slump and can realistically aim for top 4 and a cup win

I’m not sure what options he had to replace the tired legs that led to their goals though. It’s not as if they suddenly cut us open in different ways to what they were doing already, we just didn’t defend two moments as well as we’d done previously. We played most of the game in their half after the subs and McAtee could have put the game to bed.

I get why people will blame the subs because of the timing but that’s ignoring everything that went before and who was culpable for their goals.
Gvardiol was poor so put Nico on for Erling to play WB in from of him Jack for Kev to hold the ball up and do what he does best, 2 suggestions Just fresh legs not Gundo Pep is so obsessed with Gundo he would put him on in a wheelchair

I hope to god that a new defensive midfielder turns up soon out of the blue because since the Zubimendi story died we don't seem to be being linked with any which is a huge concern as that is our biggest problem right now. Marmoush and the two defenders might give us a lift but if we ignore the midfield problem it's hard to see how our season improves.

Come on mate, he may have a different opinion than you and made a typo, but cups for cock ups was a book written about city, so you’ve shown yourself up there and anyone who counts posts on an internet forum as a barometer of loyalty to a club is a bellend. The internet is full of people that don't go to games.
Fair enough mate. If you think he’s a city fan then no worries
