If he is here and ready for the Ipswich game, who will you drop for him? Savinho who’s on form or Foden who got two goals? KDB? Maybe even Haaland?

ffs our telegram hasn’t even reached germany and you talking like as if this is a pre match thread after kaz sticks teams sheet and the moaners “i’m mad where’s so so players?” ritual starts in turbo speed.

Liverpool and Arsenal are also monitoring the situation of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush as Manchester City work on a potential €80m deal.

Sources have told CaughtOffside lol

I agree. Thats why we should either loan one or buy one for longer than 3 months.
So you'd buy a defensive midfielder for 3 months and then what happens when Rodri is fit? Sorry but that makes no sense as Rodri plays every first class game. If it was your resources, you would do it differently, you would buy where we have long term need.

I bet Frankfurt wants to delay this so he can help them to another 3 points vs Dortmund Friday night which is a huge game for them.

Bundesliga G+A stats:
1st Marmoush 24 in 17 games (15+9)
2nd Kane 21 in 14 games (15+6)
3rd Wirtz 14 in 17 games (7+7)

same for PL:
1st Salah 31 in 20 games (21+10)
2nd Palmer 20 in 21 games (14+6)
3rd Haaland/Isak 17 each (21 and 18 games)

had we scouted and thought about Marmoush in the summer of course we couldnt have imagined he will run a season like this we probably can get him for 30/35m. now its double of that.
thing is we should have been looking at the market given Alvarez was leaving but our scouting only looked to Celtic Japanese guy lol and Mubama.

We have 2 defensive midfielders, one of whom is a Ballon D'or winner and we have to work within a 25-man squad rule, hence the standard is 2 players per position. And we have 2 in that position who are both outstanding players in that position. Sadly Rodri is out in the short term but it's highly unlikely that we can use the loan market to fill this gap as players who are loaned are usually problem players e.g., Rashford. We keep being linked with Zubimendi but why would he come here when he knows that as soon as Rodri gets fit, he plays?

Judging by results and performances, the alternatives we currently have are clearly not good enough.

We can have depth that is (1) better than Kovacic; but (2) not the level of Zubimendi.

And having depth like that might help keep Rodri a bit more rested, something he was begging for even before he blew his knee up. Coming off the injury, it's even more critical that we have a player who can play in the big matches, not just spell Rodri in the occassional cup tie.

We're not going to have two player the caliber of Rodri, but we can certainly do better than we've got now, and not addressing the clear need by the end of this window puts participation in the Champions League and everything that brings at real risk.

I'm in the camp that it's a failure that we didn't have something lined up and ready to go on January 1. We had two months of evidence showing how dire the need is.

(And, FWIW, I still want Marmoush too. Our attack is stale and we need help creating chances, but DM was and is our biggest need.)
