RIP Denis Law

He often used to come back to Maine Rd after training with them.

He was great friends with Ken Barnes & Johnny Hart and prefered their company to Charlton etc.

He'd play head tennis with them in the tunnel, or just sit chatting with a cup of tea.

He loved his times at City & always spoke fondly and respectfully about us.

I saw both of his home debuts and of course the "Denis has done it" goal.

RIP.
Can you explain why he was so popular with City fans given he was only with us for very brief spells either end of his career?

Alex Stepney just on BBC Breakfast now
"My first game was against Man City , and we won one nil with a Denis overhead kick,
And his last game was against us playing for City , and scored a backheel "THAT PUT US DOWN"
I can see he will be dragged in to Old Trafford for some media training !

And they have showed that backheel quite a few times since last night. Someone is getting disciplined!

You know when he was transferred from City to Italian club Torino for a massive fee in the early 60s, part of the deal was an arranged friendly match between both clubs at Maine Road. I went to that game. Maybe memory's playing tricks now but I'm convinced he played the 1st half for us and the 2nd half for Torino. RIP True legend.
