It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

So, I think Damocles may be referring to a signing like Rashford who Pep could easily turn into this very good midfielder we're after - this is why it's under wraps as it would be bigger than signing Haaland to a 9.5 year deal. Pep could work wonders with Rashford given his speed, his world class skill set and his work rate off the ball. It would blow the country apart.......
Hi Marcus. Thanks, but we’re not interested.

Always thought I could see us taking a look at Livramento.

Obvious benefits to bringing back Delap and Harwood Bellis too (although we have just introduced competition with this set of signings)
I’ve always thought Livramento was a great players since the first game I saw him again City U18’s

NO nononononononoononono fuck No

No point getting players if we don't spend 100mill plus on them, yes right. One of the daftest yet.
No, you’re missing my point. Badly. Re-read my last interactions. We need to replace, and back certain positions.

If you believe that replacing Kevin de Bruyne, is done by paying fees similar to Matheus’s then we’re clearly not on board the same train.

Quality is expensive, rare and wanted by many teams. You want us to stay on top the food chain? I assume so, well I’m sorry, but the game is unfair, and expensive. We have to fork out money if we want to win. I am willing to die on this hill.

Get him in the van

Honestly stranger things have happened.

But when we looked last time I think he said he wouldn't do it because of the threats and he's had a lot of shit going on off the field last few years.
Nah better off letting him try to kickstart his career somewhere else.

The three we are about to sign?

I was replying to Mafeo.

I think we have done this to death and I’ve provided you with links before. At some point you need to do a bit of research yourself. I have zero interest in trying to change your mind.
what is ur problem ? We have been linked with a bunch of players we have some others that pre agreed just say which players you are actually referring to.

I think I have maybe seen 1 linked with Brighton if one of them is Marmoush I think that’s unlikely given the fees involved and how Brighton work

I am not asking you to change my mind or anything. I am not some sort of research person I don’t know what you’re on about. I genuinely don’t know what you mean by Brighton mirage

If it’s you that spoke before about them having some specially system it’s rubbish we have done that before

I still believe we’re discussing with one of the big boy clubs. How we’ve managed to keep it quiet is interesting. My desire would be RM, but I think their bargaining chip would be harsh.

Also. Stealing Zubimendi from Cringe FC, would be hilarious.

And with regards to Rashford, I’d rather watch us be relegated than have that kind of player here.

I haven't the faintest idea who we get to replace KDB, it's quite likely somebody very different to KDB , in fact it has to be he's like David Silva unique. It's very likely somebody nobody has mentioned. I doubt whoever it is will cost £100mill. Maybe Marmoush is that man and the player we'll spend money on is an 8 to replace Gundogan / Kovacic.

So from “can he play left back” to “can he play dm” is the new blue moon trend in 2025?

I'll repeat what I said last week or whenever. Every journalist in the Manchester scene KNOWS that City are working on a midfielder. None of them, off the record, seem to know who it is.

Transfers aren't a secret, there's too many people involved. One of the journalists will get a whisper from someone and they'll generally gossip with others to see if they've heard or can confirm. So even before it goes to print, you know what's coming. This is how @tolmie's hairdoo has been ITK for so long, his sources and the gossip in the trade that hasn't hit the back pages yet. (It's nice to be finally able to acknowledge that Scott knew what he was talking about all along btw as many of us have stressed over the years)

But nobody has a clue who it is. And that's a weird situation. Nobody is talking. People will give info on the 115 case off the record with the "anonymous source/protect relationships" stuff and that's the most important thing that has happened in the modern history of this football club. But nobody is saying anything about the midfielder.

Here's my guess, and I stress that this is a total guess. I think the midfielder is coming from Viana exclusively. I think it might be someone who he has already done a lot of groundwork with or has a pre-existing relationship so there's little need for all the usual hoop jumping that would happen if this went through the City ranks. We already know that Reis is a Viana signing and although Khusanov was "on the list" in November, if you look at the profile of the player then he's more the type of risky player that goes to a Sporting than signs for City. Khusanov should sign for City as the club after his next one. Marmoush is a typical Txiki signing imo.

That's the only way this makes sense to me. The only other option I can think of, and this seems highly unrealistic, is that it's a controversial signing like a Zubimendi who Arsenal think they've got wrapped up. But I think it's the Viana thing, unless somebody else has got any ideas?

I'm pretty sure it's just going to be Douglas Luiz but the way Juventus are negotiating means it will have to wait until January 31st. Sometimes there is nothing you can do in a negotiation until it becomes time sensitive and flushes out last and final offers.

I'm surprised we've already got Marmoush in given the circumstances.

In terms of big names, I don't see anyone likely to move at all. Kimmich will stay at Bayern until summer and doesn't fit the age profile. Zubimendi, maybe, but Arsenal seem to be briefing that they've tied him up. Other than that who is there?

Just have to be patient.
