All those, bar Kovacic, brought us a fucking treble and the league the season after. What do you want to happen? Just keep buying each season to keep challenging? It doesn’t work like that. I mean my fucking god, how dumb are people?

And unbelievably ungrateful.
And Kompany/Aguero bought us many titles. Time waits for no man. No room in football for sentiment.

And yes, of course you should buy each season to freshen things up and improve. Whether thru injury or father time the only thing you don't do is stand still. Or go backwards as in our case currently

You have no idea why though. The charges maybe? Or faith in what we have? You know, the treble winners?
You have no idea whatsoever.

You are the kind of entitled twat who should go and support those rags you’ve quoted, because your mentality fits in there. Entitled. Spoiled. Tantrum when it doesn’t go your way.

You are not a City fan. Your attitude shows it.

Yeah whatever.. keep calling people names if that's all you can do.

Off to ignore you go!

Every team has to play the same opponent's
Might be no harm to play them all at once and get them out of the way.

This!

It's back to square one after some decent performances recently albeit against lesser teams.

The defenders are a problem, 1 or 2 games in then injured again.

Haaland has started scoring again but his hold up play is wasted, no one is getting forward to support. No wonder he's getting pissed off.

Bernardo is a shadow of his brilliance but the biggest mystery is how Jack hasn't nailed down a place with our current issues.

I reckon he could play DM, or full back when we are short but it's never been considered.
Far worse players than him are getting loads of game time.

You don't get it do you? I'm not kicking the club or the manager.. but I'm not happy with Txiki.

22 days in ZERO midfielders when we need at least 2.. most likely FIVE!
City didn't lose the game tonight because of the midfield. We lost because once again we couldn't play our first choice defenders, or they went off. So events have actually vindicated our transfer market activity although I am slightly worried that the new signings might need a lot of time to settle. Playing central defence is not easy.

No not this. Pep/Txixi have acted like fans showing unwavering loyalty to the Treble winners. And that's a significant part of the reason we are in the mess we are in.

For me Pep is untouchable but I'm beginning to agree with you that he might have too much of a soft spot for this group of players.

I disagree with you whole heartedly because everyone loves to blame defenders but the usual fuckup is losing the ball in a bad spot and allowing the counter by not pressing well enough.

That will explain 99.99% of the problem with City.

Usually or at least in seasons gone by we were good enough to commit tactical fouls to stop that from happening..

Other than the Ruben Dias committing one against Hakimi today, I can't remember another one.

Which means we're not even fast enough to commit tactical fouls in midfield before it gets to our defense.

But again we've known about this problems for months now.

We have just brought in two young central defenders and are trying to sign a forward, so the soft spot has gone.

You can disagree all you like but if your main central defender goes off at half-time, and you are already without Ake and Stones plus you have a make-shift right back then I think the problem is obvious.

There are really only two paths for us right now. One, we focus on signing brilliant, top-tier players and hit the jackpot with some world-class talents. Or two, we end up like the miserable Mu, who throw bags of money at overpriced, mediocre players that end up stuck on their roster, dragging them down. Look at them, they've barely been relevant in the Champions League for a decade because they spend big on average players.

If we go down that route, it’ll ruin the next five years for us. But if we’re smart with our signings and bringing in players like Wirtz, someone on the level of KDB, David Silva, or Yaya thhen this will just be a temporary rough patch. And after that, we’ll dominate the next five years again.

If Marmoush signs, Rodri recovers, and 1 of the 2 defenders make it, City will be the best side in England once again.

Hard to see how we get through it given the state of the midfield. It's staggering that Rodri went down in September and in mid January we don't have a replacement.
That’s probably because there’s no player that is good enough available. We should have signed someone to partner Rodri in the summer, panic buying in January once Rodri is out for a year is far too late. I’ve just said in the Douglas Luiz thread that he’s not the standard we’ve had over the years and why should we drop to it despite being desperate. Try battle on through to the summer, give Wright and Oreilly minutes.

Perspective is a weird thing, and we are having our worst season in 7 years? But in reality;

- Dippers have won the league. We just need to get 3rd.
- We are still in the F.A. Cup.
- If we beat Brugge then the slate is clean on the CL plate.

We were undeniably outrun, outpaced, outmuscled and outscored again. The rebuild is already underway but we have not addressed midfield yet. It will not be resolved just by Rodders when he's back. Txiki and Pep probably know this rebuild should have been done before but it all goes to show they and this group of players who have brought us so much success in their collective prime, are human.

Looking forward to Pep, Txiki and Hugo sorting it out. That maybe from within if Nico O'Reilly and Jacob Wright are given chances.

That's not entitlement, it's an aspiration.

I think they've lost the plot a bit. Whether Pep's separation or Txixi's departure has contributed, who knows. But some of the decisions have been crazy. Keeping Walker for as long as we have, giving him the captaincy (WTF), no Bonafide left back for years, no Rodri back up, selling Alvarez without a replacement.

I think we have been too soft with Stones and probably Ake and Akanji with their injury records. Keeping 1 is ok, but having all of them now Its killing us. Grealish is very lucky to still be here imo. KDB is getting on and Bernardo is a shadow of his former self. Roll all those things together and its little surprise we're where we are.

I'm not a young kid, been watching City since the late 70's but I call it as I see it. Were in a right mess, these players today are incapable of digging us out of this situation. Unfortunately!!
