Marmoush won't fix the defending. How many times have we surrendered leads? I am afraid that 1 or 2 more don't exist. It's extraordinarily difficult to buy ready to go top class players. Marmoush might be one. That's the most you can hope for in a window.

Same here. Realistically Stones, Ake are unlikely to play regularly this season and City seem to have tacitly admitted that. Better to start rebuilding now, than leave it to next Summer. Now we have to salvage what we can from this season and try and get CL qualification. It's a huge ask.

He may have no choice. Dias is injured again. Nunes is nota right back. Ake is injured, and I very much doubt that Stones is fit. That leaves Akanji and Gvardiol. Hence my comments that the long term problem is the defence but the solution we have gone for will likely resolve itself only over the long term.

We know all that, but I think one more signing will make a big difference whether that’s Cambiaso to play inverted right back and shore up the midfield, and /or a midfielder even if it’s only Luiz loan.
