Another player who is old and slow
Did you watch last nights game?
He's not the only midfielder we need, however his leadership, ability on the ball and also positional sense is a very big positive combined with the fact he's a damn good RB

I see that
But at moment he doesnt change things
Maybe if he is on top of a few others he can help

I am far from an ITK but a little info I have is that we are definitely in the market for a defensive mid. No names mentioned and I know that might seem obvious but it is more for the flappers who think we are ignoring that position (like myself until recently) That makes me think Luiz is a back up option as I would imagine we would just be securing him straight away.

I never mentioned Baleba and agree that it should be a collective decision. However, my point is that we need to break away from the idea that we can rely entirely on one linchpin in midfield and that includes Rodri. Even when he comes back, the direction we are headed in as a team, with attack and defence, is going to demand greater mobility up and down the park, combined with technique.
Well that's an entirely different conversation.

Thanks for sharing. People are fast running out of patience with the will they won’t they :)

Yeah, as I say I know it isn't groundbreaking but I was flapping thinking we wasn't looking at that position so only fair others can hopefully rest a little easier if they want to believe the info. Get that position filled and we could have a great second half of the season

It’s not like Baleba plays for Real Madrid. Slap £115m down and they sell him

Cheers for the info. We really have to sign one in hopes of finishing the season strong.

Money talks, barely anyone thought or knew about us going for Marmoush and we went and aggressively chased the player to get the deal sorted quick. No different to getting a midfielder. We know what we want, and our scouts will surely have a solution. We cannot risk this. The 3 signings are very nice but this remains the most important one to address.

I can’t shake the feeling they might slap big take it or leave it offer down in the last week of the window for someone.

I can’t believe the transfer window closes in eleven days and we still have no idea who we might be targeting in midfield. The only names linked with any credible journalists are Luiz and Ederson but it seems awfully quiet on both fronts.

We have a gaping hole in the middle of the park which has been exploited by Spurs, Liverpool, Brighton, Bournemouth, Villa, Sporting, Everton, Brentford, Juventus and PSG and we’re about to start a nightmare run of fixtures. We have no athleticism in midfield so our defence is constantly exposed.

I keep thinking any minute now, news will break that we’re bidding for a midfielder as the news broke about Marmoush, Reis and Khusanov did but other than links with Cambiaso and Luiz from Italy, crickets.

Very very strange when we have gone to great effort to remedy some of the issues without dealing with the biggest problem. Like getting a new kitchen instead of fixing a giant hole in the roof. The new defenders will help but they will be under huge pressure because of the issues in midfield.

It’s obvious that Gundogan, Bernardo, Nunes, Grealish and probably KDB and Kovacic have no future with us. Considering the scale of the summer rebuild we could really do with getting started on the midfield issues now. Replacing our midfield will be much more difficult without champions league football.

There’s time yet but the later it gets in the window the more concerned I am. I know buying players in January is difficult but we’ve moved for two very raw defenders so what are we looking for in midfield?

Unfortunately the Brighton owner despises us (who doesn’t eh) which makes a January deal even harder than usual.
I don't think he despises us he just is a good business man that holds out for every dollar he can get. I mean he operates the same with pretty much everybody. He squeezed every last dollar out of Chelsea for Caciedo. Levy and Delaurentiis are the two that I feel operate differently with us.
