Capital Punishment.

I wouldn't care.
I'd rather die after killing the **** and get justice than not do.
If you don't have kids you won't get it

Many people with kids have different views on this to you.

And those of us who do have kids thankfully, don't actually ever know how we'd really feel in the circumstances.

It's a moot point in this case because we stopped executing minors in 1933. Last 17 year old to get the death penalty was in 1899.

There's possibly a 17 year old that turned 18, that got the DP after 1933, but wouldn't be many.

Even if it ever came back, it wouldn't be applied to minors, or criminals who committed the offence as a minor.

It wouldn't actually have an deterrent effect and adds to notoriety, which the depraved sickos crave.
The whole thread is a moot point because its not charging plus I didn't even mention a deterrent.

As was stated it's just for debating to get peoples opinion.

I find it strange that the same people who don't trust the Government to investigate conduct and believe they are secretly attempting to take over this country, are often the same people who want to give the same Government the power to execute its citizens for breaking the law and don't see a contradiction in those views.

Genuinely curious what to you mean by a sitting government taking over the country and to which posters are you referring?

I seem to have missed a conspiracy theory somewhere.

We don't usually get them on here, but there's a pretty well voiced opinion in the white working class strongholds that Starmer is a "socialist" who is attempting to "destroy Britain" with the ultimate goal of taking over the country. You know, a bit like that Government mandated homosexuality meme if you've seen that?

I had a conversation with some Blues on Twitter the other day who had thoughts leaning in the Starmer wants to destroy Britain direction

I don't do twitter but I have heard the odd poster claiming him to be a lefty, commie etc which is hilarious because I believe him to be as close to being a wet Tory as they have had in my lifetime. I think he is not 'socialist enough' for a lot of his party.
He will go where he needs to go to stay in position, he is very much a career politician even though he has done other things.

Pretty much my view of him, though I think he's more competent than others do.

He's not my perfect politician but he's perfect for now. After 14 years of Tory rule, we don't need a fully fledged left wing Labour because its unelectable and even if it does get in, the public despises huge swinging change and they'll be gone. We need a "red Tory" to edge us left and we keep going lefter and lefter by baby steps. That's how to swing cultures and win elections. I know it's crazy that people still need to be reminded of this in Labour (especially the CLPs) but politics is about trying to be acceptable to the most amount of people possible so you can deal with their concerns.

Tories did it with Cameron. Probably the most left wing Tory leader in decades. Then they free right until we ended up with Boris, Patel, et al.

Heath was discernibly more left wing than Starmer.

Still don't like using a blue straw to this day.
Blue straws?? You know where you stood with blue straws. Can't even get a straw with drinks now, it's political correctness gone mad. Wouldn't have happened under Churchill this.
